Just tried a tank of BP Ultimate. Guess what, no more pinging. Looks as if a few extra dollars a tank is the way to go.

Either way, if I can't eliminate the pinging then I'll eliminate the Jazz on the second hand car market.
Do you think you could record the noise/sound and post it up?

No way, it's only a faint distant sound coming from the engine bay when driven under a load (e.g under light to moderate throttle uphill). Once you hear an engine that pings though, you never mistake the sound again.

P.S. The BP ultimate definitely gives the Jazz a bit more oomph. Very noticeable, and much more responsive on light throttle openings.

Don't use injector cleaners. They lower octane rating by a lot like what JasonGilholme said.

The only proper injector cleaning is ultrasonic cleaning, dumping injector cleaner into the tank is pointless....

Yup. Not many folks actually realise that Australian regular ULP is complete rubbish. I tell EVERYONE to use 95ron (and above) and to only use the major chain fuels.

I've seen too many independent stations getting sprung putting crap in their ULP to increase the margins.

I just tried a tank of E10 shell fuel, and I'm very impressed with the performance of this in the jazz as well. It pinged its head off for the first 20km's or so when switching from BP ultimate, but I'm sure this is just the ecu adjusting to the different fuel. I get good smooth ping free acceleration now, and a very smooth idle. Give it a go. Oh, and it was 2 cents a litre cheaper than regular unleaded.

    Hi,
I also have a 07 Jazz with 15,000kms. I have noticed pinging a couple of months ago and each time i take it to the dealership, i can never replicate the problem. However i have noticed that on hot days the problem is worse to the point i am worried to accelerate hard.
Some suggestions are to use PULP. Why should that be the case though. Shouldn't the engine be able to cope?
