Firstly....ProECU......we'll listen to you when you have something constructive to say. That doesn't seem to be getting through to you.

Exactly. But the problem is for new members and that's one reason why the system is there. Otherwise we'd get rid of the visibility of the dots altogether.

It was implemented for 2 reasons.
1. To stop people from spamming in order to get member status and sell items.
2. To give new users an indication of who's advice to take on board and who's advice to be weary of (ie use the dots as a rough indicator of a persons 'knowledge'.

I think its a good system, especially for the reason of preventing ppl to come online for the sole purpose of selling. Thats one of the main reasons why it was introduced in the first place.

Glad someone here at least has been around long enough to know the reasoning behind are actions. We don't just do things around here for the sake of it

We never had it before although it had always been a feature of vB. We only enabled it because we saw a need for it. That said.....just because other forums don't use it (which they do), it doesn't mean that we shouldn't use it. Like I said...reasons for using it are above. But people like to abuse it....and that's the problem.

Or just reinstate the 50 posts rule in the technical forums before a newcomer will become a member along with the associated priviledges.

Woops...I spoke to soon The problem with that is the spamming so people can get their post count up.
