well it depends how you look after them and the conditions you first buy it
my sister bought her corolla in 2002, and no problems at all till this day its still up and running in good condition!
and its in mint condition no interior has falling apart, km is still around the 160km
for a car that old. and engine runs fine as! aircon is cold as to.
but it just depends on the condition of the car and how you take care of it.

the interior condition can be mint in any car as long as its taken care of. but with the average use and wear which is more durable??

    here you go..
info on the different models with performance figures of them in stock form.
I seen a 94 Gli hatch for sale on here for $5k i think.. perfect
VTi IMO is the best of the EG models in stock form. You can make up your own mind after checking this link.

If you read his initial post, he mentions he has a budget of $5k.
So how is he going to buy an EG or EK with a B/H/K series engine.

Nan the breeze is way over priced for that it is coz all the modders buy em..

He should scrape 2k more and try for an EG SI or VTI if he's lucky.

All power op's plus very cheap front brake upgrade down the track due to have rear discs already

Actually the SX is just the earlier model and the GTI is the rebadged later model. Only difference is a slight adjustment in the bumper. So its actually the GTI which is the wannabe. I use to own one

In relation the the EG, i like the SI model, the DOHC engine that i saw was heaps better than the VTI model.

For your budget there isn't much left
