cheapest place that does shocks

hi,
got car lowered today 2 inches, EK CXI, will post pics up soon.

and mechanic says my shocks are almost effed up. So just wondering wheres the cheapest place for shocks. I dont race and stuff so dont need high performance once hehe. Max wallet = $350 for 4 shocks.

yes, just wat kind for my application, i dont have the tools to do it myself, it doesnt look hard. I could get a work friend to do it, but yeah. I prefer a place that does shocks and what brand, cost etc. chheers.

no offence but pedders are quite overpriced,good product but overpriced, we dont use them at work because for example: $690 retail for for a set of 4 sportsryder shocks, but trade price for them is $400......thats a pretty big markup,then you put take off a bit more so the pedders man makes some money and your looking at a fairly cheap product.

You said your not really going for a performance increase,in my opinion the best priced,best performing small improvement over stock shock you can get is monroe.repco can get these for you.since you have lowered,tell them,and they can get you a shortened stroke shock to match your ride height,will make the shocks last a lot longer

yeh im in the same positon, jus got my dc5 droped 3 inches. my back springs keep bottom-ing out. should shocks sove this abit?

this is a good cheap option to lower your car.you will notice a slight improvement in body roll and the suspension will be stiffer due to the fact that it is new,monroe shocks have slightly improved damping and rebound characteristics compared to stock but dont expect great handling improvements.king springs are nothing special but are good value and get the job done.when you lower 2 inches or more it is advisable to get shortened shocks,anything less than this and its ok to use your normal shocks,they will just wear out quicker

back springs keep bottoming out or your tyres are scrubbing on body panel because its so low?either way,stiffer shocks will help this as it will take more effort for the car to move the shock down which in turn will make it harder to compress the spring,therefore giving you less chance of bottoming out

ride is not so much brand specific but more a trade off between comfort and performance.generally stiffer suspension will handle better but be quite uncomfortable over bumps.in saying this,monroe is not at the performance quality of koni,but because they are marketed more towards people simply swapping their stock suspension because it is worn out and looking for a slight improvement they are suited more towards ride quality and comfort,so yes they will are comfortable,easily more comfortable than a stiff set of koni reds,but they will not make your car handle as well as koni's
