It would be better if Honda just made a FWD version of the F22C and gearbox and put that into the Euro (or make a k22a)

That's why I qualified my post with "Apart from a dearth of useful torque". A catch-all meaning it's not practical for normal cars. But somewhat more than 147kW should be achievable in response to your stated exasperation with the new model's apparent lack of substantive improvement in the power department. An exasperation that I share with you.

Your suggestion might well be desirable over a more potent 2.4L. Or they could put a turbo motor in it as they do with the 2.3L Acura RDX. Having owned three turbo cars to date, I would not mind another as the torque-rush is very addictive.

Yeah, at the rate that Honda Australia is making decisions on their sporty cars, I'd even settle for the i-DTEC Euro....

Yeah. I would consider the i-DTEC as well. I heard from my local dealer-principal that it's a no-show for Australia.

Well, Honda Australia will lose sales to Mazda then... If they don't want to be the top seller, we can't force them.

They "say" there's no diesel coming as it will affect the purchase of the initial petrol sales.
Thats normal sales talk. Never run down your existing product with better options on the way.

I believe ( and have no evidence) that a diesel is coming to oz. look at the mazdas and VW selling so well. Now they have diesels at mass production they can do it cheaper, not to mention the 90% diesel sales in Europe. And the extra attraction of offering a model with awesome fuel consumption.

It will come. I want a diesel wagon with radar assist cruise and some cool gadgets with a 6 speed manual.
I went to the modded XR5 Turbo with Mods - the dark side.....BOOOOST!

I hope they do bring the i-DTEC diesel engine over here . Honda Australia has said "they're investigating it" - the possibility of bring the diesel engine here. Hell , on one of the "honda" magazines they had a test Euro with the old diesel engine - the i-TDCi with a 5 speed and the bloke who test drove the car was raving about how good the old Honda diesel engine was ...

Just bring the damn engine over here all ready!!! lolz .. If is available , I have the new Euro in wagon form and with the i-DTEC diesel engine and a 5AT!!!

at 7400rpm the pistons in our K24 are travelling at the same speed as the pistons in a F20 doing 8500rpm... to get the K24 to rev that high would require stronger conrods, and probably lighter/stronger crank and pistons...

as aaronng said, money is a factor there... think of similary priced cars in the same mid size sedan catogory of the euro: mazda 6 = 2.5L 125kw? and the bmw 320/3i = 2.0L / 2.3L 105-125kw?

so honda with 2.4L 147kw is pretty good, above the rest... only this is, in australia we need something to match say the mazda 6MPS and the BMW M3 and the liberty GT.... same car, but with alot better engine (K20 euroR)

I thought the HIDs was only available on the normal Euro and not the EuroR because the EuroR still used a cabled throttle?

Still no idea. Wait and see when www.tein.co.jp is updated. See if they have a new part number for the new Accord. If it does, then the AirRunner might not fot.
