    you need a new thermostat.

    replace it.

Could this effect if vtec kicks in or not?

  4. #4
yes ofcourse. IF the thermostat fails , it fails OPEN so your car never gets "warm". So VTEC will not work.

hahah me not very sure...so want to ask to increase my knowledge.

If thermostat fail to open (So always remain close), wouldn't the engine be overheat rather than never gets warm?

    ^^
Yes, If its closed, the engine will overheat.

Sometimes the Thermo gets stuck and stays open, in which case, the water temp may not stay at operating temp.

    yup yup.

In MOST cases with hondas - they fail in the OPEN position.

Bennjamin meant that when Honda oem thermostats fail, they stay open. So your engine is always cool. If you use an aftermarket thermostat, there are some brands that when they fail, they stay closed. When that happens, your engine overheats.
