i did quite a bit of research into this paint a while back cos i wanted to do my eg in flat black.... now there is all different types...
there is BSAF brand which is owned by glasurit which is the best flat paint money can buy, that what the amg merc was painted in and i believe the s15, it also comes in different colours like matt blues, yellows, oranges etc... brows honda tech you will see... this paint i dont know if you can get it here...
the other option is the spray can job of using john deere blitz black this has got a sheen to it and is not flat and will chalk up as time goes by, most people use this
then there is ppg gloss plack with the flattening agent clear put in it to dull the paint this would be the best bet to go with here in aus i think unless you can find basf.
the evo and wrx i believe pictured were painted with a spray can and was a project for sport car shop in the states
i read spraying flat was actually pretty easy just cant really let it dry out then continue on
On the way to work today, i saw a satin black merc van looked so nice, perfect paint job. Will be starting mine this weekend for sure, if i stuff it up. Ill get it professionally done, insurance job of course
Will post photos once ive started, if someone can tell me how to post photos lolz
just to let you guys know that supercheap has got a sale on the "Australian Export ENAMEL" spray cans @ 5x250mg for $10... DO NOT get these.... as it doesn't actually say enamel on it till you read the back... you have to get the ACRYLIC stuff which comes in a green 400mg can @ $14... the enamel shit goes cloudy after some time...
anyways minus the acrylic paint, i have 5 cans i can use as bottom coat and 4 sheets of sand paper (1x800, 1x1500, 2x2000) all costing well under $20...
will do a back panel this weekend....
just to let you guys know the acryllic is fine for automotive and you don't need fancy stuff... this is how it looked on my wheels with 1 undercoat of etch primer and 2 coats of satin black.
this one is with the paint drying but the front most one on the bottom left is dry...
