i made the mistake of WD40'ing hte head of my dads ratchet doing DIY as a 8 year old on my bike. Worked great for another 20 minutes then went all clunky and shite on me lol
If your ratchet doesn't have warranty, then take it apart using a circlip remover, clean the insides with proper stuff and then regrease it back up with something like grey lithium grease.

Haha, golden. That's because WD40 is better as a cleaner than it is as a lube! It is great for dissolving grease.
