how to keep your civic from getting stolen!! *long read*
i read this and thought it was useful hope yall guys get some good pointers from it aswell.
Civic Owners Ive read to many my civic has been stolen threads sp please read this if it has been post before delete thanks
Our cars are the most stolen out of all and we are near the top of the most stolen car.
All you swap People. Dont think no one knows you have a swap just cause you have a dx "sleeper" we all can tell the difference between a d-series and a b/h/k series even when your not hitting vtec. Dont rely on looking stock cause most thieves arent stupid.
To all you 99-00 si owners... Listen. THEY ARE COMING! THEY KNOW YOU HAVE AN SI AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY TO STEAL IT. THERE IS NO IF , MIGHT, MAYBE. THEY ARE COMING FOR YOUR EM1!
Protect yourself first.
1. Get yourself FULLY insured. Dont just go for the liabilty cause you wont get shit if you get jacked. Would you rather pay a little more a month and get money for your stolen car or pay a little and have no car and no money?
2. Dont be stupid and think that if you "debadge" your si no one will know. We all know Most people who know anything about civics can hear your b16 easily and spot your em1 from a mile away
3. Get a decent alarm system. Sure most thieves can bypass an alarm system in a matter of seconds but it is still better than nothing , especially if you have a pager. Get a back up battery for the alarm system and put a siren inside the car. Its very hard to steal a car when your ears are bleeding.
4. Get or make an Immobilizer. Here is how
http://www.clubcivic.com/board/showt...highlight=kill
Attach the wires that run to your fuel pump to a switch. And Hide the switch somewhere. Deactivate the switch when you leave the car. This way your car will have no fuel if someone decides to try to steal it

First: Never underestimate how low a shithead thief will go. Just last year I arrested a bitch who was driving a stolen 1987 Ford Escort. I mean come on, who the hell would want one of those? The bottom line is that if it runs they will steal it. I also took a vehicle burglary report where the only thing stolen was the AM/FM cassette deck that had to be tuned by the knobs. I still can't figure that one out.
Second: Alarms deter, they don't stop. I do personally believe in alarms, it's more convenient to break into a car that doesn't have one. I personally have the Clifford Matrix. The nice thing is that it pages you to let you know when your alarm is going off. If you get an alarm invest in a back up siren that is self powered. Shitheads will break into your car and then disconnect the battery cutting power to the alarm. The self powered siren will continue to go off for about 20 to 30 minutes and can only be turned off with a special key. This brings attention that the thief doesn't want and forces him to get out of there sooner, maybe he only gets your stereo instead of your whole car.
Kill switches are also good deterrents. Hide the switch really well or just in plain sight. I've heard some people put them inside their cigarette lighters. Not a bad idea if you don't use it. You can also disconnect your hazard light switch or an unused pop out and rig the switch behind it. Plain sight switches are some of the hardest to find.
GPS locaters are the only things that help you get your car back after it's been stolen. Lo Jack is good because it is mounted directly in police cruisers. There is no relay system required like on other systems, the signal is sent directly to the tracker in the police car. While GPS systems can be removed it typically doesn't happen unless you are an idiot. I have actually seen a moron with a big LO JACK sticker on the side of his car. I guarantee that if his car is stolen the thief now knows that it is Lo Jack equipped and will look for the GPS locater to remove it. The Lo Jack system does not emit any audible signal or flashing light when it is activated, it only sends a tracking signal to the police cars. The stupid thief doesn't know the car is equipped with the locater until the police show up to recover the car, unless of course you advertise it.
Steering column collars and "locking hardware parts" like the club or brake pedal boot are mediocre additions to an alarm and I would not rely on them alone to protect my car. Thieves either cut the security device itself or cut where it connects to the steering wheel. The locking mechanism can also be defeated with a shaved key.
Locking lugs are a small deterrent as you can see by the other postings. If your alarm is equipped with a tilt sensor this can help as well. And as far as garages go they can work both ways. If the garage is attached directly to your home that is the best help. If the garage is detached from your home, i.e. it is on the ground floor or in the alley to your apartment/condo complex; it can offer a thief just as much privacy as it does your car.
I hope all this helped and if I can be of any further assistance just let me know.
5. Have a swap and or HID's or HID kit? Get locking Hoodpins.. It takes seconds to steal a HID kit.. Lock your hood up
6. Have a aftermarket headunit? Do yourself a favor and take the face off when you get out.. Dont be that asshole who got his removable face head unit stolen.. Its the same concept as having a door lock and leaving the keys in the door when you leave.
7. THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE dont think cause your 6th gen has no mods done to it that there is no reason for someone to steal it.. Guess what.. It is still very profitable to steal a stock civic.. Dont be stupid.
Be smart about your car 6th generation civic and you can keep it for years...
got this from CLUBCIVIC.COM

its horrible, if you have a si/em1, there is a 100% chance that its going to get stolen
almost everyday you hear about people getting their civics/integras stolen, it sucks.
my friend got his civic stolen in less than 2min, he went into subway to get something to eat, came out and his car was gone.
they found it 3 hours later completly stripped and they even pissed all in it. the cops said that they couldnt check the piss unless it was a murder or something of that sort.

Put a fake turbo on it. That'd disgrace the thief enough that he won't want to be soon anywhere near the car.

Its funny though they could have stolen so much more...
I guess what i see as the main reasoning not to would have been the factor of the difficulty of selling stuff like the wing
Anyway on with the reading
