hey guys i cant work out whether replacing my headers is illegal under the new laws. the guys at the exhaust place said they weren't but some people are saying they are. is anyone sure 100%?
mate ,if it increases the power/performance in any way its an illegal modifacation for p platers. put it this way , even having a pod filter is classified as a performance mod and youl most likely get diked and fined and even loose points if your busted.
vicroads are hopeless , you call up and just the operators theory on the laws . i rang em and they said i cant drive a v6 commodore lol retards.
your best bet is to ring the cop station try get in touch with a highway patrol officer. its pretty black and white from there on.
in response to someone saying you can have mods on old p's , i have to disagree. old p platers can drive SOME certain types of V8 , turbo etc that fall under power to weight ratio. (for egsample - toyota land rover v8 = yes for some p platers .vy SS commodore = no.) but old p platers still a barred from having any performance enhancing modifacations.
in nsw p platers can still modify their cars
putting a legal exhaust which is under the limit of the db off whatever and air filter with and enclosed airbox
