    tyre size

    How you doin guys...

Im looking at purchasing some 15" lightweight wheels 4 my baby... simply for performance driving purposes, hoping 2 hit up a track or 2 in the near future.

I have my eyes set on a certain wheel which is 15 x 6.5 in size. Just wonderin, especially from those who do a bit of track racing or maybe an occasional hill run, what size tyres should i be getting for optimum performance/cornering.

    Should i get the conventional 205 x 55 x 15? or as i was told by "tyrepower" employee go a size down to 205 x 50 x 15?

Is there gona be much of a difference or when doin normal daily drivin is the speedo gna b slightly off, any other consequences?

Thanks alot guys any feedback would be much appreciated!

you need to consider tyre size availability, sidewall height and stiffness and load ratings

many true track guys will tell you that 15's are the best for a low power integra. So yeah, 15x6.5 is a great size and 205's are a good size for 6.5" width wheel.

but, look around for tyres and see what sizes exist in street tyres and semi-slick tyres.

its not easy to find good sizes so dont rush the process of choosing your wheel size!

for example, RE55S are the semi's i use
    http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/...ort/RE55s.aspx

see what rim size they recommend and what load ratings they offer...
lower profile is better for track, but so is light weight rims... a 50/15 would be better than a 55/15 .. then decide if you want 215 or 205 thus if you want 6.5" or 7" wheels...

dont worry about speedo too much unless your making big changes.. it might be off a little but smaller diameter tyres will improve your acceleration a little and most likely reduce unsprung weight..

cheers 4 the comment bro... its funy coz i was actually lookin at gettin bridgestones coz i can get any at cost price through a family friend. i might go with 50s coz thats what every1's been sayin, prolly a better option performance-wise.

I have another set of wheels so i dont plan 2 b using the 15's 2 often, might chuck em on b4 a cruise or an occasional hill run, just looking 2 optimise my cars performance handling-wise, n altho i kno its not gna make much dif at all every bit counts ey.

    I prefer 195/55/15 for 15 x 6.5.

However... I do use 205/50/15 in Semi's wrapped around my stockies (15 x 6.5) for track.

With the stock Type R rims Honda specified 195 width. Many people do tend to run a slightly wider 205 width.

With this comes increased grip but sacrificed steering feel. Ultimately its really up to what you want and what suits your driving.

My opinion, I think the DC2R is grippy enough and I value steering feel and do not want to minimise it by going for a wider tyre choice. I have been running the Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001's @ 195 all round and have been very impressed with the grip of this tyre.

Very soft compound & the fronts do wear quickly if you are a spirited driver with track driving also. I will be acquiring another set of rims with semi-slicks for the track to prolong the life of my daily tyres.

195/50/15 Bridgestone Potenza RE001's. I have them fitted to 15 x 7 wheels. Awesome tyre, they wear abit fast but it's all good for what you get in return.

    That's USDM though.

AFAIK the ones we got at 15x6.5. 205's are way too wide for 6" wide rims. 6.5 makes more sense. Correct me if i'm wrong.

195/50/15 they do the trick. dunno if this makes any difference but for mountain runs i prefer 205's on the front with 195 on the rears
