    damn mate,

in the US, are they strict on aftermarket stuff installed?
e.g you need to get engineering certificate of approval etc.

What you mean like strict, everyone mods there car to their own liking you need to get no certificate/approval only manufacturers does it though to get CARB that is 50 state legal. But with most mods, you do it at your own risk an example is I am going to remove my airbag and put in aftermarket steering wheel in most states it is legal but many of us does it anyway.

lucky, if we max out sh*t here and get pulled over by cops, could get defected/fined for having stuff not approved.

love to change to a bride seat, but my arse is so phat it can't fit.

They are more strict on certain things, especially if it concerns emissions. Intakes, headers, cat and exhaust get a lot of scrutiny. Over here we are more safety orientated where the seats and steering wheel won't pass engineering at all.

Over here, our checkups can happen at any time and any place, depending on the cop that decides to pull you over randomly. Oh well, that is life.

Oh dam, I didn't know that in that case that is suck. So basically they can sneak up on your car at any given time. Over hear we don't have that unless you go in for the inspection/emission testing or if you are pull over by a cop for traffic or for any other reasons and if he decides to give you a tickets he can check up on your car and especially which cop pulls you over and if he knows about cars and stuff like say if your car is loud and annoying he can crawl underneath your car and see that if you have the cat in place but that is rare usually they just give you a tickets and drive off so no worry hear. But in California it is a different story, cops knows how to spot illegal mods and they looks for the 50 state CARD approved stickers for your mods so if you didn't have that you arr bound to be fine. So I am glad I didn't live there.
