    0W50 has to be made up with huge amount of VII....which will shear in no time....I am guessing after 1000km to 2000km. It will become 0W40, which will be thinner than 10W40...

    and you would wonder why no big oil manufacturer makes 0W50.....

    My D got 201000KM, can i use 5W-40 ??? i'v told 5W-40 is really good for honda vtec engine, but now i am using 15W40 ~

    Not much difference once the engine is warmed up. The only difference is during cold start. Just use 5w-40 at your next oil change.

    I didn't really like the Shell Ultra 5w-40, even if it was cheap. lol

    Sorry to bump an old thread. My car is due for another oil change. I drove 4500km in 6 months on Castrol Magnatec 10w-40. Should I go the same or opt for Honda OEM stuff? Do you just purchase that stuff from any Honda dealership?

    Car is a 94 EG Civic Gli hatch with 81,xxx kms atm on the D15. Is there much difference between the D15 and D16.

    Both are pretty similar and at a similar price. If you don't have problems with magnatec now, you can keep using it.
