That is why you need to test on the open road at a fixed speed (ie with cruise on at 100kph) and a flat road if possible. With a good GPS signal.
GPS is definately the best way to check your speedo
Why is GPS the best way to check? Just curious i thought it would lag a bit or something

GPS calculates an average of how long it takes you to get from point A to point B... so it isnt 'live' so to speak... however, if your on a straigh road, not varying speed, then they are extremely accurate... only variance will be the software built into them (navmans usually read 1km/hr slower)
lols! I had a good arguement with a good friend of mine over speedo accuracy.
He said his new Mitsubishi Triton was a weapon, with fast acceleration, and quick cruising speed.
I won the arguement when I pulled out my GPS. His speedo was over 10km/h out!!!
My speedo on my Toyota prado is about 5 - 6km/h out at 110km/h. ~115km/h on the dial is 110km/h on the GPS.
