I'm also curious as to why you didn't just change the cams? I'd always thought that in terms of flow the Accord euro k24a head was essentially the same as the DC5r k20a head?
You're probably getting sick of me saying this now, but...
definitely get this thing tuned! You're really not going to make the most out of the k20 head and all of your modifications unless you do. I also want to know what the real gains are when changing heads!
I think Justin wanted to prove that you could get good gains even without getting your ECU tuned.

I'm looking forward to the next stage all the same
As long as his AF ratios stay below 14:1 and there isn't pinging.

Just wondering... why is the idle RPM so high? high cams?
-
So when i can the the civic si intake manifold to my euro. there's no need to do anything to the ecu yeah? it will re learn itself?

yeh, direct bolt on. Wait for ECU....
just need to drain a bit of your coolant otherwise you'll have it leaking inside your engine bay.

bigger throttle body...
for example:
10% throttle on the stock TB might be 50cfm
10% throttle on 64mm TB might be 80cfm
so until the ecu learns that it doesnt need to open up so much at idle, itll rev higher...

lol and no, i wasnt revving the sh*t out of a cold engine, the engine temp was actually 92degree and oil temp 85degree... ECU just thought it was cold (trying to see if on cold start the engine advances ignition / increases fuel)
hehehe
Usually Honda's retard the timing on cold start & use the idle speed motor to bring the revs up.

The mixtures are a little richer, but not a lot.

well i swapped back to the stock TB until i can bring it in to you to have the idle relearn done... prob wont be until next week... when i can get time
ok so update is:
the K20 head puts the water outlet in a different spot, so my custom made air intake now sits directly ontop of the radiator hose, meaning my intake is about 50-60degrees sucking in hot air = sluggish performance!
so i must make up a new intake... more time and money!
as for the stock ecu - when running with the J32A3 throttle body, the a/f ratios sit similar to what they used to, except under vtec... they used to sit around 11, they now lean out to 13.5... so im loosing power there!
im playing around with my options, i only drove it around for a day, so given more time i can see it learning... otherwise i may go piggyback ecu
Try replacing the fuel pump reg in the tank with an adjustable unit.
Though it is probably a bother to do, .5 ~ .8 of an AFR is that hard to get from a reg.

Cheers buddy!
yeah i was looking at raising the fuel pressure... or something like that...
as for the retarded timing, yeah, it didnt run aswell when it thought it was cold lol
