your vtec cross over point should be at the exact same rpm as per normal. get someone to check the tune of the car.

Maybe the crossover is set where it is because the tuner decided that was the best place for it to be when they originally tuned it?

headers shouldn't afftect the cross-over at all.
Its dependant (on a stock ECU) on RPM, oil pressure & correct temp.
I would say most likely your rev meter is slightly out of wack. I've heard of that happening at times and sometimes people say they have seen their cars reve to 9krpm because of this.

If you goto a dyno run they can accurately tell you what RPM you have cross over is

another thing it could be is that your prob looking for the noise associated, that doesn't always tell the exact point vtec engages.

i dont think my rev meter is out of place..i rarely drive my car..
by resettting the ecu would it help (do you reckon the piggy back ecu or stock ecu caused this problem? should i get it tuned again..

its funny how before i had the xforce headers put in vtec kicked in at 5.8k..

The factory rev limiters are not 100% accurate , after market FTW , but for street use no need.

even 5.8k seems abit too high for a tuned car with mods.

It wont change from addition of headers. Not on b-series.
It does on i-vtec motors i think.

it has to be the tuning.
i think the tuner tune it a bit late due to the AF ratio
