I hate car dealers. My g/f paid 28k with no extras and by the time she paid for all the other b/s (warranty/roadside assist etc etc).. It was just under $31k.
lol why do u hate dealers?? what a stupid comment.
they sold ur mrs a car so what? she payed 31k, maybe ur mrs has the problem?
im not biased, i just tell it how it is.

Because they try get you into a contract without the option of getting out and charge you more than the RRP of the car.. If she was charged a high price but the accurate price maybe it wouldnt have been as bad... The next morning i tryed to sort things out with the dealer but they couldnt care less, they had convinced my g/f to sign something which locked her in and they were grinning from ear to ear from the price they actually were getting. The manager was quiet rude on the phone...It was not explained properly to her and she thought she had 3 days cooling off when infact she was manipulated into signing the waiver to remove this cooling off period. The dealer who sold us the car was telling me how he ripped someone off with one of his peronal cars back in the day when he was trying to be friendly with me. Not really what i wanted to hear. Walking into the dealership i could see the manager flirting with one of the female staff who worked there, this made it look very unproffessional to me also.
I dont like to rip people off personally, they do. To put it simply, this is why i dislike them. Maybe i'm stereotyping here but i dont care. Until i have a better experience with a car dealer this is how i will think of them... leech's.
It seems that being a dealer is like survival of the fittest, you gotta rip people off to get anywhere.
My mrs was silly to go in there without looking more into things first, yes. I don't doubt this at all and was equally frustrated at her. The way they deal with people who dont have much confidence and experience in buying a new car sucks. She had no idea what she was getting herself into. They manipulate. She thought she had a deal until i talked to her because thats what she was lead to believe.
She was even supposed to get a full tank of fuel, it had only 3/4 of a tank, only a small detail i know but still frustrating.
Whats done is done, shes happy with the car now at least...
One thing i can say is the service experience i had at this particular dealership was top notch. Her P/S pump shit itself 1 week after taking the car. The service on this side of things was great. So it was not all bad.
To the post above, goto www.honda.com.au they have all the RRP prices of all the new models on there.

Got a quote on the weekend, was about 28k for a white Civic VTi Auto. So with negotiating would be less of course

Took delivery of my 09 Civic Vti last week. Got it for $24.8k driveaway. Its a manual with metallic paint, 12mths rego, 5 yr warranty, carpet mats and full tank of fuel. Not quite a bargain, but still happy with what i got

I see on honda website, they have an offer for manual transmission. Should I expect the same thing on auto one?

I jus rang random ones. You can haggle with them, but still there wont be too much of a difference I think, or am I wrong?
I jus feel 27500 for a vti is too much money for it..if it was 23-24k id think thats reasonable
One dealer explained its all coz of the dollar and in april to expect further increases.

i dont know about sydney.. but if you are in melb you can get it for much cheaper. You can get Vti L manual with couple extra options for 27500 here.
