Not in my warranty book. On page 9 it says as long as the required maintenance is performed (at the specified intervals), the warranty will apply and be honoured. People tend to assume that it must be serviced by a qualified mechanic but that is not stated anywhere in the Honda terms of warranty. The only thing that must be carried out by Honda is the warranty repairs (that's a no brainer).
Also on page 8 it states "Honda strongly recommends: ..use of genuine Honda parts and lubricants whenever you have maintenance work performed."
Clearly this is just a recommendation and not a condition of warranty. I'm sure the ACCC would have something to say if Honda (or any other car maker) made it a condition of warranty to use only Honda lubricants. Same for car servicing.
So it's Mobil1 all the way. And if I change the oil and filter myself, at least I know it's done properly and not by some hung-over teen apprentice.
Getting back on topic, I picked up in early Feb my CU2 09 Euro Luxury Nav Black Auto with mats, rear parcel tray and rear wing spoiler for $46,300 drive away with 5 year warranty and road-side assist. Col Crawford - Brookvale.

Trust me mate... me and a mate has this problem before with us claiming warranty and the services are not done by Honda (and our service was done with a non-Honda service center, not by ourself) and they try their best to avoid in fixing our problems (note: my problem is 6 CD Stackers stuff up and my mates was the "driver side windows cant be closed", both on Civic and both are very much happens to most civic FD owner).
So no matter what the page 9 said, they will still come up with something like:
"you did not close lid A properly", "you fill the oil more than required", "you didnt put enough oil, you shoud fill 2 mL more than what you did", "you change the wheels so it stuff the CD stacker", "you forgot to close the window overnight, hence it cant be closed now", etc etc etc... Trust me these are some genuine comments they made...
This sentence: "as long as the required maintenance is performed (at the specified intervals), the warranty will apply and be honoured" is actually Honda greatest weapon against us and ACCC

I know what you're saying. I had a stuffed rotor on my Type R and the Honda service centre tried to blame the car alarm that I had installed by a third party. Through some perserverance Honda took responsibility and changed the rotor under warranty.
I think it also depends on the Honda service centre. I've used two different Honda service centres and one is much better than the other at identifying and fixing problems (one took two goes at fixing the rotor problem with no success and tried to blame the alarm, the other fixed it straight away and I have not had a problem since).

I love every second I drive it. I didn't think it would happen but I actually enjoy the flappy paddle gear shift too.

Sorry that is not correct. The warranty will not be honored. Only a registered mechanic is qualified to undertake the maintenance. Any one else touching the car will not be recognised as performing a service as required by manufacturers for warranty purposes.

That's merely your opinion. My statement was based on facts ie the warranty book, and my experience.
Unless you can back up your claim with evidence, all I can say is whatever.

In NSW a mechanic has to be licensed, The workshop needs to be licensed as well. My recommendation to people is that they get the minor servicing done at a place like Ultra Tune (a minor service is just an oil change & i recommend getting it done every 5,000km, you supply genuine Oil & Filter & keep receipts). Then get major services done at Honda Dealer (40, 60, 120,000km etc).
Any work carried out by an unlicensed person can void warranty.
