DIY: Alternator, regulator and brushes replacement

Are most Alternators interchangable?
Noticed someone put a reconditioned Corolla Alternator in..

As long as the voltage output is the correct amount, or something like that. Search google if you want more info.

my alternator is reading about the same as the OPers did before he replaced the regulater and (other thing).

would it be worth giving this a try before getting another one from a wrecker?? that may also be broken...

I've had to get 3 from the wreckers and they kept screwing up so I ordered parts from Honda and I've done a DIY too that was to change the brushes. Good to change the regulator also. It's shit easy, most people are afraid they'll **** up their cars they start a new thread and chuck a hissy fit.
