are these some sort of cheaper alternative for full coilovers or something? does anybody know much about coilover sleeves? how's the handling and ride comfort from these?

yes they are the cheaper alternative to coilovers.
they allow you to drop your ride according to how low you want it.
ride comfort depends on how low you go.
thx ekdez, i heard buddyclub n+ is not japan made anymore, adn tein SS is way over priced nowadays... 2.5k for a set... im lookin at dropping the car for 15 - 20mm, and want a balanced comfort and performance. have had JIC track spec in my old car, quite comfortable comparing to teins RA and BC racing spec, but im just over driving a "track car" on road everyday. thats y im lookin at koni, skunk2 and even mugen, they lower the car, and hav comfort + performance gain, most importantly cheaper than most coilovers, if i want harder/stiffer coilovers i can just order a set of BC from china and it'll be as stiff as buddyclub racing spec...
yeah, tein SS maybe expensive but its ADR approved..??
whereas the other coilovers arent..
i heard that jic makes coilovers for fd.
tanabe is meant to be soft too because the fd's we own over in jap, is a family car.. lol
all coilovers are gonna be made in different country to the design because they use parts which are always going to be the cheaper alternative... having said that, the warranty is still there to cover failure of a coil set =]
so i dunno.. i ended up getting n+.. just because it gave me that option street/road/track
