if u swap ur motor from a d series to a b series, as long as that motor came out with that car orignally its fine.
and if u leave everything OEM, even the most experienced cops wont know wat it is if u remove the GLI badges.

It says no vehicle modifications which require a engineers certificate
Ie if you had a 92 eg si for example with a d16a8 DOHC non vtec, swapping to a b16a should not need a engineers cert as you have not increased the displacement but 10% and you ahvent gone from single to twin cam, or carby to efi
The guy that engineered my car told me that if you swap an Engine, it had to be engineered. Even if it's the same type of engine, cos the engine numbers change.
But if this rule is in place, then you can put NSX brakes on a EK, and it would be fine.

Just to clear up a few things for people.
Engine Replacement
You can replace your engine with a replacement new, used or reconditioned engine of the same type. Also an equivalent factory optioned engine for that model, with out the need for certification.
Performance Engines
Fitting of a replacement engine with more than 20% greater weight and/or power output than the engine offered by the manufacturer as a standard or optional engine requires certification.
As EG Civic's weren't constructed in Aus with a B-series engine, legally you need a mod plate to put one in. Therefore legally no, P-platers aren't allowed to have one.
Yes you may get away with it for a while, but there is a very good chance that a cop will take 1 look at it and tell you to start making calls for someone to come pick you up. With the introduction of the new P-plate vehicle power restrictions a lot more cops are being taught what cars/engines you are and aren't allowed to drive. So having a big "DOHC VTEC" embossed on a rocker cover kinda gives it away...

$200 for the VRS kit if you're lucky. All up it will cost over $1000 for a head gasket replacement. Expect more if you've warped your head and need it machined.
Oh and to the OP, vtec isn't a form of forced induction, it's just honda's form of variable valve timing (and lift control). Most modern cars have VVT. Honda's is just more advanced than most. So it's not illegal for you to drive a vtec honda. It's just illegal for you to dive an engine swapped one if it didn't come factory with one.

I'm sorry but EK's were not offered B18C's as an equivalent factory optioned engine. I'd think that if you wanted a B18C in your EK1, you'd require an engineer's certificate. This is based on my reading as all

Hahaha I didn't read your post properly first time round. Disregard what I said even though it's true that the EK's were not offered the B18C. Anyway, I have no idea if the B18C is no more than 20% in weight soz
