That doesn't screw your box as long as you rev it to the correct RPM before clutching in and shifting into 1st. That's called doubleclutching and everyone had to learn how to do it before synchros were introduced.
Once you know how a gearbox works and how the synchros work, double clutching makes sense on prolonging synchro life, just like how rev matching prolongs the life of a clutch.

guess i should have been more specific in what i said.
i didnt say it was bad while double clutching, he didnt say he tried double clutching to get it in. if he isnt double clutching and trying to get it in, i dont see how thats doing the box any good.

Im sure there are a few decent brands of fully synthetic fluids on the market. Come Friday, i'll be putting a gearbox worth of Redline MTF in mine, i'll let u know if it helps...

Which Redline MTF are you using? If it is Shockproof Superlight, it is still 1 grade thicker than what Honda specifies. Honda uses 75w80, while Redline's thinnest Shockproof is 75w90.

I'll b using "Redline MTL" its a full synthetic and is slightly thinner then Hondas spec... 70W80.

Got car back, had a laugh, my poor mechanic gives me grief "i have to always jack your car up before i can get it on my hoist!" 
With the new oil in the gearbox, its still a honda box, u still get the stubborn 1st-2nd change, but it has improved the abruptness of it, 25% improvement on shifting when cold, and now my LSD and new FD run the same percentage quieter.
