    white smoke!

    hello

hey guys just got a problem after installing a custom made headers on my d16y4..after it was installed white smoke started to come out from the headers..not from the head gasket but from the headers piping itself..when the car is started its not there but after its rev for a while it starts to come out..

do you guys think theres a leak on the pipes?

yea sounds like it. you can't see whereabouts it's leaking out of? get someone to block the back of exhaust and have a look at the headers to source the leak

yeah its pretty weird cause where the smoke is coming out doesnt look like theres a hole on it..is it still safe to drive it around? or further damage can occur? and also is it normal for the headers to heat up so quick =S?

did you spill any coolant around it anywhere. it's alright to drive around for now i guess. but if there is a crack it'll just keep on cracking. you'll end up losing alot of pressure and power.

pretty normal for it to heat up. think about how much heat engine produces, all has to go somewhere

sounds normal... most headers will have a certain smell and smokiness when new because of the oils/resins on it.

if it's not leaking from anywhere and it's coming off the surface its normal

Could be the cleaner that the previous owner used on the header before selling it. I had nice white smoke after using stainless steel cleaner. LOL

The smoke should stop after 10-20km of driving.

get someone to rev the car and you stand behind it, when he revs does the smoke dissappear.

could be a cleaner as someone said. but could be the start of many more problems.
