not really - it was a waste of nearly $500.

I have started making mp3 cd's so I can get the features I expected from the ipod attachment.

Looking on the honda website, it does say:
The iPod® Interface supports the following modes:

    'Playlist' play mode
    'All shuffle' play mode
    'Resume' play mode
    'Random' play mode.

So we probably havent got much ground to stand on, as it says exactly the features.

For $500, you might as well install an after market head unit, the cost of the facial panel + headunit is probably around the same amount with about twice the amount of features, although haven't seen it installed on a CU2 yet

I wonder if anyone has tried pulling apart the trim to see what this factory ipod attachment is. From the features and limitations, it does sound like a castrated version of the xcarlink!

The point is that on the luxury versions of Accord and Accord Euro 'Random Play Mode' is NOT supported. All 4 play modes need to be supported for the unit to perform as advertised and this is not the case. Also, you do not have 'full control of the Ipod via the head unit' which is also claimed. I'm still making up my mind what to do. If I do ask for a refund I'll post the response.

My attitude is that if enough people ask for a refund, the bean counters at Honda who decided to offer this dumbed down appliance will have to re-think the cost benefit ratio of that decision and might force them to offer a product that is up to standard.

Has anybody else found a way to play songs on a playlist in random order using the Ipod dock on a luxury version of Accord or Euro ?
Hey there alienbeef, the RANDOM button I think can only be found on the US CU2 or Acura TSX. Blame Honda for using "one size fits all" type of car manual and expect people to sort out the differences.

The only way to play songs on a random order is through DISC8 while in AUX (or iPod mode). DISC8 is hardwired to play randomly and you can not manipulate this in any way.

Granted it is a dumbed down iPod interface that we get here and even worse we don't get any songs / tracks display.

If it's any consolation, I bought the Michael Jackson's Number One's CD and voila! I can see the title of the Disc and a FULL TRACK LISTING - hallelujah!

You can get track skip and volume controls and playlist (FOLDER +/-) controls through the CU2 HU, although I wished that the nice colour LCD can show the track listing and playlist control instead of just "EXTENSION"!

alienbeef, when I have the time I'll check this out at the dealer's - unfortunately they don't have non-luxury CU2 with iPod interface but their audio seems to have more controls than the Lux / SatNav versions.

I agree the functionality is crap - but techically random mode is playlist 8 - its just random for the whole ipod rather than the playlist.

It sucks and I dont like it - but Honda lawers would have no problems winning that case.

Thats the reason why I wanted to post in this forum - to let everyone know how bad this ipod kit is so they dont make the same mistake I did.

Its a shame too - its literally the only thing I don't like about my new purchase. It could be worse I guess! I freakin love this car every day I drive it! lol

Does anyone here know why certain (genuine) Audio CD's don't have / do not display CD Text?

I have 3 CDs from Michael Jackson and one of them don't have / do not display CD Text which prevents you from seeing the disc title and track display.

Also the iPod connector IS NOT compatible with iPhones!!!

Because the audio data on the disc press did not include CD-TEXT data on that particular disc. Not all discs have CD-TEXT. It's optional.

For anybody who is interested, I have successfully received a full refund of the cost of the Ipod dock fitted to my Accord. They have sent the cheque and the unit will be removed at the first service. I was very well prepared and made sure I had my facts right before writing my letter requesting a refund. I also sent in a copy of a government fact sheet outlining my refund rights and used a picutre from an ealier post in these forums on Ipod docks. I found this forum to be very helpful and informative. For anybody thinking of paying for the Ipod dock to be fitted to their new Honda.....DON'T DO IT. It is a complete waste of money unless they bring out a new model that does the things and Ipod dock is meant to do.

Sorry to hear that you removed the iPod attachment alienbeef, for me it works well despite its many shortcomings.

For those who are interested, I have found that the USB connection IS available on the Honda Legend - looks exactly the same as what's available on the US Acura. Now this USB Connection should have full functionality as the Honda Acura's iPod Connection.

My theory's they've downgraded the Euro's audio system so that it doesn't compete with the sales of the Legend!
