and cold is better for power / response?

Better response is produced from lesser restriction and length of pipe?

Ok; then for example why not run on a front wheel drive; a front splitter; and a cold air intake just behind it; (behind the bumper) so you're getting cold intake from the force that you're driving forward with?

to much drag? or is this just a stupid idea?

wells its a mod, so even if your on your fulls, im guessing it would still be illegal, but you'd probably be able to get away with it

A J's racing duct is not a performance mod. It's technically a body mod. If you get defected for something as basic as that then the cop who did it was out to defect your for something no matter what.

this is called a "ram intake" and is used esp in bikes. you'll get a positive pressure depending on your speed...and then some sort of pressure loss in your intake system.

hmms i don't really get this. (about the pressure thing) :S also isn't it at "ram intake" either way? ones a long ram (cai) and short ram is the one that just sits in the engine bay :S

theres a difference. short ram isnt really a ram intake. its just a name given to a short intake. and technically a long ram isnt really a ram unless it has some sort of forward facing thing feeding pressure to it, otherwise its just a cold air intake

a ram intake has a forward facing opening creating positive pressure from the speed your going. a higher speed will create a higher pressure.

when you have a forward facing cavity on your car, the forward speed creates a pressure in there relative to how fast your going. a "ram" intake takes advantage of that.

i cbf working out how much gains from pressure you'd get from 100kph, so i dunno if it'll be worth it or not.
