I ended up going with Michelin PP2 (205/55/R16, on an 2004 w standard rims) for $215 ea when I last replaced mine.

Its not the same size you're looking for, but the Michelin's were recommended by almost everyone I spoke to (including people who didn't stock Michelin, surprisingly enough!) so they might be worth looking into.

Also, ring around to as many tyre places as you can since prices often vary quite a bit between them.

That's a normal price for 205/55 R16. I paid $165 each for my RE001 in the same size. 225/45 R17 is much more expensive than our 16".

Not sure which Toyos the guy quoted. The main thing is I need to buy from Bob Jane because they currently have 200 gays interest free and we don't really have the cash at the moment to buy new tyres.

Have you asked for the price of Dunlop SP3000A? Not the grippiest tyre, but cheap and adequate for street. I'd still steer you towards Yokohama C.Drive. They last damn long.

I hope you meant "Days" not "Gays" because 200 Gays interest free scares me!

But seriously at the end of the day there is only one part of your car 'where the rubber meets the road' don't cut corners on that component.

    hahahahahahahhahah...no.. I meant gays - 200 of them

Seriously though...I can get Pirelli P Zero Rosso's in 225/45x17 for $309 each.

I might look into the Michelin PP2's as well.

Some reviews I have just read on the PP2's don't seem to be as favourable as the reviews on the P Zeros - any comments on this ??

PP2 is good. Your car is an Euro, not a Ferrari. But if you have the money, nothing wrong with P Zero as well.

Cool - thanks !!! The P Zero's are only $50 more per tyre and the reviews I have read about the PP2's seem to point in the direction of them wearing out REALLY fast.

P Zeros will also wear out pretty quick as they are a sticky tyre.

Have you found a price for C.Drive and S.Drive? I have C.Drive on our other car and we've been using it for 4 years and there is still heaps of thread and heaps of grip. lol

i got 30,000k out of my last set of PP2s (new at 50,000k, replaced just after 80,000k service) and decided to replace with the same.

never run out of grip with them so i've got no complaints
