[CL9] Low offset wheels

This question goes out to those with low offset wheels - ie 7.5" with 38mm offset and / or 8.5" with 40mm offset.

I know this is not a recommended offset for the euro but I want people with these types of wheels to comment on their experiences. Thanks.

i know for a fact +35 will work on a cu2 , but for a cl9 +38 may be pushing it.

I had 8.5" with +40

In looks, it was perfect, flush with the guards! But make sure you lower it, or else you look mexican.

Some people say it is bad because your losing 15mm of thread from the lugs, but I didn't have any major problem at all. Been 2 track days with no problems.

So I would definitely recommend it! 8.5 > 7.5 Looks much more agressive at the back and more traction ftw

his talking about performance problems....

from what i noticed even though mine are +50 to +43 from the 2 sets same tyre widths,
turning circle is slightly bigger, you can also put more stress on your wheel hub and wheels nuts.... but other than that not much difference, and slight ride comfort too.

in terms of traction it depends on your tyres you put on.... width wise....

Well Aaron didn't make it clear if he wanted appearance or performance comments

Also, isn't it, you putting more stress on your wheel hub and nuts?
and how does changing wheel width and offset benefit any ride comfort?

I believe 8.5 has a better steering response than a 7.5 as well.

Rein' runs 9.5 inch on the rear with a plus +45 offset but with a 25mm bolt on spacer effectively making it a 9.5 inch with a +20 offset on the rear,

He has rolled and slightly pumped the rear guards, and trimmed away any plastic.

Also depends on size of the wheels,

u could be rolling on 17's that are fat as,

or 20's,

And how lowered your car is..

They all make a diffrence..

post up the specs ur looking at getting..

Front: 17x7.5 ET38. Rear: 17x8.5 ET40.

what would be a tought offset for an 18x8.5 on a cl9.... i was thinking around +33 - +35?

Rein's setup isn't so practical. I'm sure not many people here are willing to go through tyres every month. Not everyone here is after show car specs.

Throw the 8.5 at the front and the 7.5 at the rear.
This helps with the understeer.

And how much negative camber are you willing to run?
For street use, max I'll recommend is -2 if you care about your tyres.

As alex has said.... agree to that tyres don't grow on trees and nor does money hahahaa

aaron if you want to go that low, just make sure you get wheel spacers.
And make sure you don't drive near popos cause they will defect you cause your wheel will stick too far out....

It would look aggressive but you might not like the fact the wheel stick out of the guards....

Yeah I have -3, tyre wear is pretty even just rotate regularly.
