are they both together in the dizzy??
    What were the values?

Point I'm trying to make is that if the coil is gone...then you'll need a new coil.

I alway marked the dizzy before I tooke it out. It wasn't happen to me so I don't known, anyway maybe the are bolt marks left on the dizzy body. Try to adjust dizzy so that the bolt alight with it old marks then do DIY: Adjusting Ignition Timing.

ok guys, so got the civic started (it was the internal coil). But remember how I took dizzy off without marking anything, well when I got it started today I lined up the washers with the old marks. Took it for a drive and it felt laggy and could hear the pod sucking a lota air, so advanced it a bit till it started feeling smooth through revs and sounds good. Engine did not ping or knock or anything outa the norm.

I do not have timing gun, so was just going to drop car off at mechanics which it about 10km away.

Think its safe to drive carefully over there with timing maybe a bit off??

yeah will be fine, just take it easy. So long as it doesn't ping its ok, just don't expect it to be that efficient
