I'm potentially gonna open up a can of worms here.... and people might get their nose out of joint. But if this list is for SAS cars only.. then there are a few who should not even be on the list.

So given that, should full slick times be posted on the board ?

 SAS allows road registered cars.
That means cars need to be in a roadworthy state.... not just have a current rego sticker.
Stripping of interior, to changing of seats, using harnesses, roll bars etc without a blue plate deems that car non roadworthy thus not SAS compliant.

Slicks are in the same catagory.

This is something I made sure I was not infringing on when I used to go out. However... I point my finger at QR for not scruting cars. I don't know if this is still the case but back then it was way too relaxed in this respect.. I never saw anyone checking cars over.

This poses a few issues from sportsmanship between entrants to general safety.

Reguardless if AASA are making motorsport affordable and accessable to majority of people with a drivers licence and a car, in my opinion, these issues, especially general safety should NOT be overlooked.

Were does this lead me to... a lap time is a lap time... I'd like to see it recorded down on this thread.

Where you document it is IMO where it needs to be reconsidered in this thread... you guys are going to have to figure that one out between yourselves.

I thought it was a sprint track times list. Not SAS times list. As long as the specs are listed with the time I don't see why the time shouldn't be there. I'd much rather have it listed as it is a good reference to compare to.

I only removed my interior 5 weeks ago, and i still use the stock seats and seat belts. I know there's faster cars out there with cages etc, when we do hit the track, we are always in group 1 with the carrera cup cars and full built race cars. It just inspires me to make the DC5R go faster and continue to practice by getting as much track time as possible. The hi power racing guys did great times in there CRX with the CF doors, Boot lids etc. Just makes me want to go faster. After all, first one across the line is the winner.

As for safety goes, how goes taking carpet out and rear interior make the car unsafe, if the car is unsafe it has nothing to do with qr they have there own thing to do. it is up to the owner of the car it is his own stuipidty if the car is unsafe it is only him self that is going to get hurt, any way back to the main point the admin needs to decide weather this is going to be a sas times list or just open class as if you where in top gear.

Given if carpet and rear interior is taken out (don't ask me on legality of that), more specifically rear seats being stripped, without mod plate, it might be allowed on the track because of the lack of scrutineering, but brings up the issue of sportsmanship.... as I mentioned before, because you are NOT roadworthy.

One would assume that as an up and comming motorsport body that is hell bent on offering something that CAMS doesn't, I do not comprehend why something like a basic form of safety scruting is not in place.

Especially when you have been quoted saying that safety at AASA events have always been on top of the priority list.

This is not a dig at QR or AASA, John calls my partner and I every now and then to have a chat and see how things are going with us, its just I personally would like to see some things changed.... especially since I am possibly returning AASA events soon.

well this all seems to be about sas rules well if someone else gets hurt caused by someones unsafe car, sounds like one of them never went to drivers briefing as there rules say no close driving being it is only sprints.

no worrys mate not here to argue, just here trying to get some times up but would seem easyer to ride a bike with no chain. over it now if my times go up i will be back in here other wise there is no point for me to be here.

Speedcore i agree with your point of view entirely. There should be a scruituineering system inplace before each event.
The case with my car is not a fact of if it was safe modifications because that was always my main priority, it was due to me not getting the certificates straight away and therefore my car got pinged for it. entirely my fault in the roadworthy sceme.
My problem now is not having the funds to be able to get it blue plated in time for one of the remainder of the events this year.
I want to put the seat back in to aid in my control my car around the track and the removal of the interior pieces is the equivelent of someone being able to extract more power from a turbo kit or similar improvements to the dynamics of their car in other areas.
The whole point of the restrictions on tyres and lexan windows etc is to bring the competition level back to what would be allowed on the street if done corectly.
I will admit that I was originaly against allowing the times of cars with slicks in the list until the point was made of the tyres being specified beside the car details.

As previously stated I ask about full slicks as it's a modification which can't be certified for road use, however the general consensus is that everyone would like to see times posted so long as the situations are recorded.

I'm pretty sure Rob set the 56.9 before the car was resprayed, it didn't get the lightened doors and rear hatch until after that. It made a massive jump when they went from the B16A to B20.

Ps. Stock RECARO's rock ... so comfy for racing

Alright, we have a general consensus that we'd like times posted with circumstances attached so post times you fruits !
