Improving the drive on EG8 GLI

iv been lurking around on here for years now, i do ALOT of reading and not much posting

i have been through the motions of doing alot of clean JDM work on a DC2 only to loose it to a car accident

now im getting around in a subaru and EG8 GLI (sedan) ... i prefer the civic, shes not that powerful, and not as good as my teg but she is still a sweet drive

i really like the handeling and the revvy engine (D15b7), mods i have done to it is:

    - all fluids, oils etc used are OEM Honda
    - Ebay (fake simota/J's) whale penis style Intake
    - (also have a Dc2 intake arm with Apexi pod)
    - replica bucket seat on driver side with sleeper car seat covers so u cant tell
    - Dc2 VTIR OEM front upper chassis brace
    - Eclipse single-din headunit + coax speakers (but i always listen to the engine instead)

i love the way it drives, i love honda induction roar from a big intake with the stock exhaust, my question is ... is there anything else i can do that will improve the nice drive of the car

i dont want an exhaust drone, i have heard exhausts on the little SOHC engines and i dont like it, i was maybe considering 4-2-1 headers and maybe a short shifter .. but i dunno

    mature comments only please

    cheers for the input

I know you said you dont like the drone of an exhaust on a SOHC, but i would look into getting one, they are a good investment, just go for something simple, and a silcenced tip, or an extra cat would bring the noise down too.
Also i wouldnt suggest a short shifter, they wear down syncros and bushes in your gearbox, plus in my opinion, they make shifting slower, more gap between the wheel and the gear leaver, plus alot of shifters feeling crap because they transfer teh vibrations up through the stick. If anything i would look into one of these http://www.jdmyard.com/page/2/ first thing on that page.

The other thing you could do is start to look at the suspention, springs, shockers etc, or even coilovers.
But that is the stuff i deem to be nice 'mods' to make my car nice. It is really up to you But those are my thoughts
    Cheers Nic

got a ebay link to the whale penis intake??

Iv got a eg8 gli as well, and agree with you on the easy drive and nice little engine, for a 1.5L it goes very well. Pop some coilovers on bro and get a rear subframe and new LCA's
Why don't you tell your daddy to comb his damn hair, look like some spiders is having a meetin' on his head.

i probably wont be getting coilovers for this car, its only a runabout ... ill be getting a WRX soon and putting all my energy into making that jump and shout, i might get some quality springs - i would like the car stiffer but not much lower

i dont like the idea of a rear swaybar (i just sold the Dc2 vti-r one i had lying about) because i upgraded the one on my teg and i didnt like the stiffer rear end feel ... i felt that it upset the balance of the car too much - dont know if putting a vti or vtir rear sway on the EG will have the same effect or not

i was thinking of maybe getting some headers but not an exhaust - dont know if this is possible or not, or maybe a twinloop axel-back for some revvy sound - im really scared of getting a drone tho ... i was happy enough with the stock one on my teg ... only upgraded to a mugen catback (which cost alot of $$ lol)

this is the intake i have:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Honda-Civic-9...d=p3286.c0.m14

i was pretty happy with the Dc2 vtir intake arm + apexi pod ... nice revvy sound ... but it was well over 5 years old and shabby as hell ... i wanted a nice cheap replacement and that seemed the best value on ebay, at first it was a little blaaary but now it sounds nice

i still want to put some ducting up to my intake as well

i guess i just want to improve on that revvy sound ... dont know if headers will help this

I think headers with same exhaust can work, but yeah dunno if it worth it ey...I really dont want a gay cannon on mine, reason why its stock but was thinking of getting some straight pipes from cat back. Not sure what they will sound like though.
If you get headers umm I know xforce make good quality ones but they cost a fair bit.

Got any pics of this civic???

if u dont want the useless canon on the small engine i would recommend a twinloop ... x-force make good ones for cheap but mugen is the best u can get ... pricey as tho

i was thinking just some headers .. than maybe a twinloop

how does headers / intake sound on its own?
