Hi All

I get a creaking noise from the steering column when I accelerate from a standing stop.

Anyone know what the cause of this is?

Do you get the noise also when u turn ur steering wheel side to side ??

If this is the case then its most probably a steering rack issue. Common problem with ep3's. I had mine make a noise which got fixed up at hanny's. Basically all they did was lube up the steering rack to stop the noise. That noise u hearing is only a rubbing noise and is nothing to worry about. I got told by mechanic and read on uk honda type r forums that its not a safety issue and just a annoying noise. Some people in uk actually just drive with it and ignore it. But i hate noises so i got hanny's to fix it. Alot of ep3's in uk had this problem and got their steering rack replaced under warranty only to later on down the track get the same issue again with the new steering rack. If you are good with lubing and can b bothered all u need to do is pull back the rubber boot on ur steering rack and spray some lube inside. Not sure what lubricant hannys used cause it was done a while ago and i forgot

The clip that connects the cable to the handle is probably not clipped in!

ill check it out when i have a chance thats what i thought it would be also i was in a rush to go to work and just put it back on

lol steven u pull off the trim and u prob 4got to put the clip back on, if not u prob pulled it and snapped it

its something about the steering boot not being greased up enough.. has happened to me a few times.. WD-40 will fix it temporarily though?

just got back from Osaka. brought a set of Tein Super Street back and checked in and it weighted 27.4kg + rear camber arms as well. so wonder what you guys run as alignment.

was pretty tiring trip with the kids. managed to sneaked off to a Honda dealer for some OEM parts and had a great time doing translation on my iphone app. in the end got most of the bits i wanted but they wouldn't sell me a damn red H key cos i couldn't supply a key code and they won't sell blank key.....

also managed to see a FD2R close up at the dealership but didn't ask for a test drive. never saw a EP3 at all for the whole week and spotted a few FD2R on the street (some CW ones and a black one).

food was awesome, stuff were pretty cheap and i rate Osaka over Tokyo.

what u need is, buy a genuine blank keys off ebay, and then buy another red key cover, done!thats what i did, and mine even 02 model,lol, spend 1xx on the lock barrel changing to change into 04 up laser keys, then did the step as i list above,

would the immobilisor thingy work as my car has OEM immobilisor?? can Honda Australia recode the car + old key + new key?

thats the problem...i dont think they can transfer the signal from ur immo into the key since the keys dont mean to make for fl ep3s...but u can try to ask the lock ppl,cuz since mine is 02 model and dont even have immo, so its pretty much plug and play, just that i cant get the fob functioned thats all, cuz i have a factory remote, so i will just keep using it, but cuz i really need the fob to sit in the key cuz without that there will be a few holes there lol

p.s: check where ur key chip is, whether its inside the key or its in ur remote, if in the remote, u should be fine i think
