Hopefully my pinging (rattle) is gone. Seems all good the dealer told me they had actually put in a new ECU. I questioned him when he said that and asked was it re mapped and he said no it was a totally new ECU.

It is a much better car to drive without that crap rattling all the time.

I might even start to enjoy driving it after a year of hating it.

I must say the pinging sound is pretty terrible through 4k-7k RPM (after the fix). Half way through my second tank and I'm pretty dissappointed with the 'fix'. Don't have much of a ping from 1k-4k RPM but above that =

Gonna raise this with Honda tomorrow....

I will show them this bulletin this coming Monday when I take my car in for a checkup on this same issue.

Applies To: 2009 TSX – ALL
    2010 TSX L4 – From VIN JH4CU2...AC000001 thru JH4CU2...AC009053
Went in for th ping service - Mechanic went on a test driver with me and within a 1min - he confirms the issue and I also showed him the Bulletin from Acura and yes, he confims HA also receives similar bulletin.

Just have car back from dealer and the pinging noise seems to have gone now. Will do few more days of driving and update:

They replaced: Knock Sensor,Inlet Manifold Gasket and update ECU upgrade as well as A/T ECU upgrade and did a re-learn procedure. Also replace my distorted front speaker.

One more thing, the mechanic does not even bother asking me which type fuel I have been using.

If you got a new ECU then I'm pretty certain all your keys will need to have been programmed for it. That is if they didn't have your spare (assuming you get a spare with a CU2) key then check it works i.e. remote unlocks doors, starts engine. Mine required this when the ECU was replaced though it was for a CL9.

My guess is they fed you BS but if it is fixed then all good.

hello euro2009, I've been following this pinging noise post for a while and am new to posting.

I was interested in which dealer to take my Euro to get this pinging noise fixed.

Would it be possible that you pm me where you took it as your dealer sounds like they know what they're doing and have fixed the problem and I happen to live in Sydney too!

    Thanks in advance!

If you trust the dealer you bought the car from... would be the best option.

I wouldn't ask either lol. It's a known issue regardless of fuel type, and people just lie anyways.....

Yeah that is excatly my point - it should have nothing to do with fuel type.

I had the fix today, new knock sensor and software update to the engine and transmission. The dealer tested the car again today before the fix and confirmed the ping was present and then again after to confirm it was gone, No issues on the way home all seems good so far.

As far as the fuel goes my dealer wouldn't book the fix until they had done a fuel test to make sure I was running on a minimum of 95RON. Why would they waste their time if it wasn't important?
