Well, just picked up my brand new MY10 Luxury 5sp Auto this morning. No sign of any pinging which I am so happy about. Took it for a spin up Mount Cootha, put the A/C on full (to help load up the engine), put it in sport mode and tested out aceleration at all different revs...could not find a fault.

Having never owned a Honda before, it was nice to discover what happens around 4000 rpm

I'll be keeping an ear out in the coming weeks, but seems OK for now.

just came back from the dealer jsut now. pinging issue gone! speakers fixed tooo!

    it was so quick
dropped it off in the morning and had lunch and it was already time to pick it up. when i got there the guy was like yeh we fixed it ill bring the car out now. im like thats it? and hes like...well yeh...
giving me the "what else do u want? a hug?" expression
no documentation no nothing. thats normal right? i also happened to notice they didnt stamp my logbook for my 1000km service but they gave me a printout.

and there was a bit of plastic from some packaging that was poking out from a gap on the edge of my door. im assuimg it happened when they opened it to install speakers. but a random bit of plastic makes me wonder why and what got caught inside....

^^^ furry, your dealer seems dodgy...
    1. Any warranty claim done on the car has to have a job desc print out
    2. Log book need to be stamp
    3. They left wat????

MY10 should have the pinging issue resolved as part of the MY10 update.
You will find the sweet spot for performance is between 4000 to 6000, don't be afraid to give it a good workout now & then when conditions are appropriate, Just make sure everything is up to operating temp (not just your temp gauge).

Denot, I need to correct you there, a dealer is only obliged to give you a receipt for the service, they do not need to give you receipt for warranty repairs.

Agree about log book stamp, but the 1000km service is just a check over. The first official service is not due till 10,000km (which I think is too long). He should just keep his receipt & request a stamp at his next service.

Plastic behind the door trim could be left over from shipment when all door trims are covered in pastic -no drama there.

I finally got around to getting the Euro in for a service and to have the pinging and speakers fixed.

All I can say is that it is sooooo good not to hear that damn pinging any more.

The car feels more responsive and I might be going crazy but the auto seems to be shifting different (better). Maybe they reset the engine and it is re-learning my pattern but so far me like..!!

And the speaker replacement was a breeze. Done without question.

How can you tell if your speakers are blown? Would an audio noob definitely know if something was up?

dunno about "blown" but most of CU2 speaker problem is that you can hear the sound/bass distorted... I'm an audio noob, but I notice this because its soooo annoying (especially when you hear RnB music with good bass)

you will definitly know something is wrong..

It's hard to describe the sound as its not the same as when a speaker is blown, but for me and others that I know who had the problem heard it more during the talking in between songs than through the music although if the music was rap or rnb involving alot of talking then it was a pain.
