Had the knock sensor and SW upgrade completed under warranty yesterday with the 12month/20k service. No pinging evident now.

    Newbie

    .....my first post here.

I purchased my new Euro in June 09. This is my second Euro. In between I had a Subaru Liberty Spec B. This car had loads of grunt-fun to drive BUT rode really hard and was super thirsty.

I first notice the pinging on the Euro coming up Mt Ousley. I thought it may have been the fuel -so switched from 95RON to 98RON.

No change. Then it started to really annoy me! I wrote to Honda Aust. Got a lame reply back from Customer Service basically saying-not our problem. See your dealer. After spending $46,500 -this response did not impress me. So I wrote back and cc the MD of HA. Again another pap response.

Went to the dealer. They were onto it. Knew that it existed. Booked the car in.

It is 95% fixed. I still occasionally hear it ( windows down and booting it) But overall -a Happy Ending.

This should never of happened in the first place. My comment to HA is that -they should have called all 09 owners to say the problem may exist -now lets fix it. Good Customer Service is all about "anticipating the needs of the customer" NOT hoping like hell no one complains !

This is my 4th Honda. Up to now loved the brand and the vehicles.

In fact -still do. I'm not that precious!. The 09 Euro is a treat to drive. Love it.
Occasionally,I still miss the Liberty up Mt Ousley-the S# with the paddles was awesome ! But don't miss pulling up at the bowser twice a week.

Cheers and thanks for the tips.

Well everybody I havent been on here in a while. I am here too let you know that my parents pinging problem is fixed!!! It sounds so unusual that it just creeps past 2500rpm and changes gears!! It was done under warranty and it was just new knock sensors that fixed it. Havent noticed a change in fuel economy or 'go' but now as least its not embarrasing when you drive past someone on the street.

Now just to get the handbreak readjusted which was 'replaced' by dealer at 15000 service. Not to mention middle cup holder cover rattling when open and the annoying rattle in parcel shelf.

I'll try and keep updated on here now

For those curious, power and fuel economy (based upon the trip comp.) appears to be identical after the fix. It is an added pleasure to drive with the pinging sound cured.

For me fuel economy has gotten a lot worse - from 10.4 to 10.7 and now 10.8!

I don't think my driving style has changed so I'm not sure what's gone wrong there!

LOL 4cyl engine consuming close to 11L/100km!!!

Cup holder rattling is probably the little silver insert being loose - I have had this on 2 CU2's. First one I fixed with a touch of araldite, second was replaced by the dealer under warranty.
