This "Lifetime' warranty isn't worth the digital paper it's written on: As the warranty is just valid to the original owner and only if certain conditions are met, it is actually a limitation of liability and not a warranty at all.
A non-transferable "warranty" does nothing for resale value.
Forgot about Fair Trading, you guys should consider the Trade Practices Act administered by the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) which, if properly "awakened" to the matter, can force a national recall and/or compensation as well as publicly embarrassing apologies from HA.

Agree. It's a wortless pisece of paper. Will struggle to prove anything if the engine does have issues down the track as they will put it down to certain driving conditions. Hello !!!!
These clowns are a joke. Short and simple.
Good luck to all but this stinks big time!

I read through a fair few of these posts and not sure if I missed it but, does the build date have anything to do with it?
I read one that mentioned a May 08 build date and I've spoken with guy down the shops and his was also a May 08 build and he had the pinging (he was asking me if I had a ping and then warned me). I've got an August 08 build date, bought in Feb 09 and have been lucky so far to not have any pinging.
Are the US cars also built in Japan? Do all Euro/TSX come from one plant?
How can Honda to let such a good car have these problems?

Thats what I would like to know. That response from HA is the greatest load of pap I have ever read. I ran it past a mate with a legal background- he said you could drive a Mack truck through the holes in it -and it would not stand up if in 10 years time you had an "issue" with the engine.
As I mentioned in an earlier post-I'm due for the 10K service and another ping "attempt" fix.
If not fixed -I will not accept delivery back from the service dept.
This has been an unmitigated PR disaster for HA. I have told at least 8 people-ABOUT THE EURO PINGING /aka steer clear !!
Again, the rest of the Euro pack is exceptional- I reckon the drive, interior, safety etc is outstanding.
A real shame this has happened and even more of a shame that HA have treated those affected with utter contempt.
Its turning out to be a classic case study of how NOT to treat loyal customers.......'might just send it into the AGSM.
Merry Chrissie to all.

In the January 2010 (current) edition of Wheels, Peter Robinson said he accidently put in half a tank of 91RON ULP into his long-term test Euro. He reported no pinging then goes on to mention the pinging problem and that all Euros made after April 2009 should have the problem corrected from the factory. He then invites readers to write in about their experience with the pinging problem.
So guys, go for it. Write to Wheels about your pinging experiences. Remember to mention Model/Year/Transmission and then spill your minds out; including your post-fix experience and your opinion of how HA has handled this problem.

I have just completed my trip to Sydney & back, a total of 3,075kms & no sign of pinging at all.
I carried out an experiment by using Caltex Vortex 95 on the trip south and Shell V Power 98 on the return trip & found no difference at all in the drive-ability or economy. The figures were 3075kms, 198.41 litres for an average of 6.45, Best recorded was 6.03.
I actually filled up 4 times during the trip & the true figures were 6.23 x 2, 7.18 (this included commuting through Sydney, a week in Gosford & about 30km around Newcastle) & finally 6.03.

buddah51au, you should write to Peter Robinson at Wheels with your positive experience of the fix.

It is not a matter of writing to anyone. It was explained to me that the remedy is a complex 3 stage ECU update that needs to be carried out in a certain sequence. The knock sensor replacement is straight forward.
I do wonder if the so called Technicians in many dealerships carry out the software update as specified. I personally know some of the staff at my local dealership & have mentioned that some people still seem to have problems with the so called pinging issue.
I have been told that they have had no complaints on any of the vehicles they have applied the update to. So draw your own conclusion, I have.

Ok, where did you have you fix applied Buddah.
I have had my vehicle done twice by these clowns and despite being a lot better, the car still pings.
If it's in Sydney, I'm happy to go there and even pay for it.
Have a good xmas all.

Been a while since I have been on here, but I tried drumming up support on here previously to take this issue further and no one else would step up...
Basically, we are trying to get this matter resolved one by one, instead of a joint effort.
