yea they fail over time, but most get over 150,000miles or about where I am in terms of kilometres before they leak thro the o-ring (which is what I think may be happening)
I can't link ya atm, but will when I get back, just look thro users rides section and such and such's 400hp build, great info

							Cheers Ryan,will do!
Why do U think it's leaking through the o-ring? Is it visable somewhere from the outside or blowing blue smoke?

talking about d-series hope im not hijacking this thread but here goes,.my air filter is HELL dirty, i was wondering how would a bolt on pod filter will imrprove my car. im not totally interested in making this engine improve its performance as it has an auto gearbox --". i really need to replace the air filter but im wondering whether should i stay with the oem shape or go for the cone filter. are they easy to install? heard it makes ur car louder screaming during vtec.

but i had a look, oem airbox looks like it sucks air through a pipe weaved through and take in air from the far left. is this better for my car to stay oem shape or might as well get the air filter cause it looks like if i put on a pod filter it will stay closer to the head coming from the engine n hot air is not that good is it?. im getting an full conversion hopefully at the end of the year.

 any thoughts on this>?

well there's a leak on the sump, could be from the crank seal, 0-ring seal, or just the sump gasket itself (highly unlikely lol. Or also be from the rear main seal (in which case I wait til I change the clutch and flywheel)

doesn't blow smoke, but is generally rich due to how it's set up

Yeah,I got a tiny leak like that too but it's so small, not even worth worrying about,I mean the car blows no smoke and the compression is 175 accross all 4 cylinders. Not worth worrying about, but everytime I'm under the car there's a slight bit of oil there.

Yea I've been told by a few mobs, Honda included not to bother, but I don't like seeing oil there so I may as well fix it
sri intake with a box is definately the way to go

but having to replace the:o-ring on the pump
 crank seal
 possibly cam seal
 main big end seal

 would consistute doing:
a timing belt change with new water pump, oil pump included
clutch and flywheel change to get to the big main seal

 lol

bling bling (starts hearing the voices of a few telling me it's not worth it at 300,000ks)

don't go an open pod in your bay. You just suck the hot air into your engine. Does wonders for lowering performance.

You're better off with an intake the puts the filter outside of the bay, or something like the setup from an ITR. You can even go with a K&N panel filter in your stock box. Will be much better then an open pod in the bay.

is it common for the D-series to leak oil from the timing belt side crank seal?

mine weeps from that side after a long drive ... only a couple of drops tho

jeesus its hard to change oil in a d-series. the bolt is so damn tight on. i havent even got that bolt off yet at the bottom, or is it me doing it wrong?
