just read the whole thread. Been slowly getting back into the honda scene, seen a fair few ED build threads with d16's. I've got an ED3 with a d16y1 at home. It was running but was smashed. I can't get my money back on it, so i've recently bought an ED6 off a forum member. Body's alright, got a few dents, but no rust except for under the guards.

Plan now is to pull out the d16 from the ED3 and put it into the ED6, convert to manual & EFI.
Why bother? Because i remember running my car ages ago and it was fun to drive, very rev happy. With the car smashed it left a void that i needed to fulfill. Plus i wanted to learn more about some hands on work, i know a bit of theory. My mechanical skills so far include and oil and filter change haha.

So far i've disconnected most of the parts from the engine bay, harness, hoses etc, took the radiator out. If all is well the old auto box and d15b will be out this weekend.

i find it funny how STILL any ebay turbo kit fall to come with any sort of engine management. Surely if they wanted to make something more attractive they would include an EMS before lambo doors or oil coolers

Honestly any no name brand kit you usually get on ebay is mass produced low quality shit that will only cause you problems in the future. Spend the money on something that has a prooven background and you will be much happier in the longrun

There are certain ways to tell the quality of a non-branded turbo. Auto Salon did a feature on this in January I think.

Generally the idea is that any money you save buying a cheap turbo only increases the risk of problems later.

hey guys just a quick question. i want to replace my gearbox from a D16 to D15 for a shorter ratio, but the problem is that i dont want to spend too much because my clutch is cable. Do you guys know a specific D15 gearbox that is cabled so that i don't need to convert it to hydraulic.

I think all ED D15 boxes are cable, so probably everything pre 1991. Then when the EG was manufactured they were all hydraulic, but still D15 motors

    Something to do.

Grab a spare head for $50 and port it with a $30 dremal from bunnings:

    http://www.d-series.org/forums/engin...rted-head.html

The one on the bottom of page 5 is what ya wanna do.Ya dont wanna change the shape.U just want to open up the intake and exhaust ports a bit,4 on each side, take off the carbon and a little bit of metal, just a bit to simply open it up a bit,not to change the shape and disrupt the flow.

Mill a bit off the head aswell to bump up the compression a bit,$80-100.

Replace the head gasket, valve seals and uprgrade to a bisimoto cam, then swap it all in.

While your swapping the head in U can use the dremel to port out the Intake manifold ports a bit and do the same with the headers, wont take long.

Also bore the TB out yourself best ya can with a file,I did yesterday, will post pics soon. It's still 56mm but flows better.

    All this will cost $700.

This is a GREAT cheap way to gain power,to port out the head as described above without the fear of mucking anything up.

The downside to doing all this is that your fuel bill will go up 20%

In the states guys are going from 44-46mpg to 36-38mpg.More air = more fuel.It takes fuel to make more power.
