Car Alarm Problem - help please!

Hey guys this problem just came up last night, my car alarm no longer locks the doors via remote but the alarm sound and lights still go off.. The central locking still works by hand and key but the remote will no longer lock or unlock the doors. Me and my mate pulled off the door panel and reconnected the alarm cables.. No change

    Any thoughts would be appreciated

Pablos when you press the alarm does your doors still make a sound like they are TRYING to lock? If so, then there's nothing wrong with your alarm. It's a common problem with our cars as they get older. Open up the door and clean all the metal rods, then lubricate. Make sure you lubricate well. Concentrate on all the areas where they meet. If when you are manually locking your car with your hand from the inside and it's stiff, then lubricate while locking and unlocking your car a couple of times. This should solve the issue.

If they aren't doing anything at all (i.e. your alarm isn't functioning correctly) then I cannot help you my dear sir! Good luck though!

99% of the time the aftermarket door lock actuator (that they fit with the alarm) shits itself over time and gets weaker... have the same problem right now on my EG but im too lazy to fix it..works on and off

The actuator is fitted inside the drivers door and looks like this:

You can either buy it and replace it yourself or take it to an auto alec/alarm installer...relatively easy fix

Have you removed the door trim and tested the door actuator?

absolutely right. if that actuator is screwed than your c/l wont respond to your control. when i was fitting alarms this was a common problem.
as "dorikin" said try getting a new actuator and replacing it.

get a test light, probe the lock or unlock wire wire you are lock or unlocking with the remote. if it doesnt light up then its goneskiis.
or even, take off your door trim, you sit inside, get a mate outside with your keys and press the buttons, the actuator should move, if not its gone.
