HELP: Subwoofer Cutting in and out

    Hey guys,

i had got my setup installed by a professional.
but a few months down the track, the sub is cutting in and out, mostly stays out.
Sometimes comes back in momentarily when i slam the brakes and the sub moves around.
(2 front speakers remain the same)

    my sound system comprises of:
    1 subwoofer (sony slim box)
    1x 4ch amp 900 watt sony

    how it was wired:
2 front speakers and subwoofer in rear.

i have lost my receipt for "lifetime warranty" at his workshop.
is there anything i can do to try and fix this issue?
it seems like a really easy fix but i dont know where to start.

(i have tried to disconnect the sub wires and put them back in, works until the rear gets a jolt (from uneven road) then cuts out)

    cheers,

Take the sub out of the box and check the connections. The terminals inside the box sometimes comes off and everytime you brake or go over a hump, it touches again thus cutting in

Try using a diff wire too

It's good that you got it "fixed". It's the same thing as most other complaints.. check the wiring, and then worry about something more substantial!!

My concern was that even if you have lost your receipt, doesn't the company that did your installagion keep records on what they do to what car??? I'd expect that even if I didn't have my receipt that any reputable place would have their own records.

Having said that... I know that if I didn't have the receipt for my audio so far I'd be stuffed if anything (else...) went wrong. It's been hard enough getting something to happen on the problem that I've had, so I'd hate to think of what woud happen if something else was the problem.

From a personal point of view, this is why for things like this that I consider important, I'd go to a specialist place and not some big chain store for it. I don't know where you wen,t but I hope that they would at least remember the car, of not have the record of the job!

thats nice, now go back to the store that you bought/installed it and ask nicely for a copy of your invoice. bet you didnt think about that...
