yes the car doesnt come with all the luxrys of headrest in the back, but for wat you get its an amazing car, just test drive one then go test drive a wrx s3 or gti and u will feel a total difference, ive only driven the wrx and gti but imo the ep3 just feels alot better, and its not just straight line, cornering is another bonus, hence the car been made as a Type R its gotto perform on the track aswell

But tbh the back seats in the EP3 is a joke it doesnt even have headrests. If my friends just sat in the back of the car they would not think the car is worth 20g (especially if they dont know hondas).
I own an auto and i've only driven my friends manual from time to time, only learnt the basics (shifting and hill starts), i cant even blip properly to downshift so i dont think i can really go test a EP3 lol, the owner will think i am a time waster
champ you'll be surprised how much space and how comfy the back seats.. yes its not as luxurious as the s3 or gti but for the cash you know the tuning of the engine and rest of the stock features is all honda type R unique and a lot of thought was put into it.. also its loaded with cup holders :]
its up to you.. i was the same.. didn't know if i should go the euro type r, evo 7 or 8 or the ep3.. skylines, gti's and wrx never got my attention way too many of them on the road... ep3 is still a rarity..
I dont know if you've seen this clip but watch it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaYW1mUE8RI
it's top gear's review about the ep3.. I was sold when i saw this clip..
but in the end it's up to you what you want.. do you wanna drive your mates around or do you wanna enjoy driving a car?
P.S. dont worry about manual.. you'll soon get a hang of it.. i was the same when i switched from auto to manual but you soon realize that it's not as hard as it seems.. just stay positive don't ever doubt yourself..

Wait so u were on ur full license and u chose an EP3 over an evo? Was it cos evo was too expensive?
Yeah i have seen the video, but top gear is more of a comedy show. Love the show, just started watching it from the start again. I basically search up civic type r EP3 on youtube every 3 days to see what new videos of the car is up lol. I wish people to upload more videos, i just cant get enough of it.
Was the EP3 ur first manual car?

I also have an EG5 JDM B16A SiR-II TURBO running 13.2s on street rubber!!
Heaps faster than the Rex’s, Audi S3 or Golf GTI but I still opted for the slower yet nicer EP3.
AWD is completely unnecessary for in and around town or even the track IMO,
Plus the extra weight of the AWD running gear makes them a tad sluggish and costly on fuel
Now having said that, the EP3 is no slug in any case and can keep up with AWD turbo boys no problems.
Just lookup the Australian Rally Championship stages and compare times between the turbo AWD EVO or REX boys and the N/A FWD Civic Type-R
Not to mention the huge costs involved in service and repairing European cars.
Well said

Yep! A lot of us here are full licensed and choose to own the EP3....I myself sold a 400hp R32 GTR to buy the EP3 and don't regret it. But having said that there are some of us here that have had all types of car, unlike the P platers who only think about power and/or luxuries etc.
Owning a Honda Type R requires are certain understanding of the car as a whole......? May not make sense to you (it does to me).
If EP3 isn't your taste to begin with, I'd suggest that you don't buy one. Mazda 3 auto may be your friend if that's the case.

I just went for the innovative ones, alot of the guys run them. It's personal preference is what I've found.
Go for a drive with someone who has innovative mounts and then go for a drive with someone with the mugen mounts...steve has them

nah EP3 wasn't my first manual and yeah i do have my fulls..
the reason why i chose the EP3 over the evo is maintenance and petrol plus there's not many out there..
I'm just not the biggest fan of turbos i love the NAs.. If i was going to get a turbo i would of got the evo 8 MR but it was out of my price range and too much on petrol.

I totally agree with Nepolian. If you have doubts on EP3, you are likely better off not buying one because you will sell soon for a turbo or a luxury car.
To really appreciate it, you need a deeper understanding of the Type R. It's not a car anyone can buy and be happy with. I personally don't think you should take words from someone else to convince you to buy one because driving one and see it driven would already tell you alot. I believe that is enough to convince you. If it doesn't, don't buy one.
I bought an EP3 because I drove one, sat in one and also enjoyed the driving sensation from its type r siblings. Not solely because someone is telling me it s quicker than another sports car.
If you're looking for straight line speed, get a turbo and you probably won't need to have a hard life trying to defend Honda's are quick. This is one of the reason why some drivers don't own type r very long because they feel beaten by the more powerful turbos
