Well today was a pretty good day... I have now finished almost all the back end mods. Just waiting on money so I can order strut brace and coilovers... I have decided to do all my handeling mods first then focus on the engine. My plan was to do it in stages but im going to wait until I have everything I need. Plan was to rip the engine out this weekend clean it up and in a couple of months when I had the money to get the half cut. But now ill just wait finish off the carpet in the interior and get her back on the road. I have got some photos of the rear, note the sway bar was painted but for some reason hasn't really showed up well. The paint didn't stick to the metal to well, so ill probs respray it later on.
Backend mods are done... 14mm Sway bar... Skunk2 Lower Control arms... EG6 Discs Brakes... Skunk2 Tie Brace..
Close up of the Lower Control arms and calipers (I will be getting new discs too!)
Brained Hose lines for brakes. I will also use them for Fuel lines and clutch.
Next on the shopping list is some strut braces from Ultra Racing. Thanks to Saint for hooking me up, cheers mate. I will be getting the, Front 2 Point upper brace, Front Lower brace, Rear 4 point brace and the rear floor brace. Once I have got and installed all of them, ill start saving for some coilovers. Been looking at the skunk2 Pro C, but apart from that nothing else. Im open to some suggestions, so please feel free to discuss some.
Should have some more photos up tomorrow, been working on my custom center dash today/night. Will update tomorrow when hopefully it will be finish.
Thanks guys so far 3 week in and its been good fun... more late nights and a few cartons to go though!
Saint Yeah I sanded them right back, primed and sprayed 2 coats. Must be the paint has gone off or something stupid. Have another go at it tomorrow. Yeah the discs really make the car look good I think and will help heaps. Havn't been cheap tho, 400 for the hubs. As I was stripping them and cleaning found the brackets are seized and need two new ones (still need to source some). Then I bleed the brakes to find one caliper has also seized, gonna try a trick tomorrow to free it up. Then had to get new brake line. But will be worth it.
You will need to check with your state's motor registration authority as to what they will allow in the way of mods, especially as you're intending to change the engine/fuel system/exhaust etc. Some states have restrictions on capacity increases/ whether the replacement engine was one that the factory fitted to other models in the same range. You may need an engineers report and certification. Keeping it registered as it was before modification you will find is most likely illegal and could result in instant defect and removal off the road. I.E. being towed away. Don't want to put the frighteners on you, but you need to know this.
when i did my swap from the d15b7 to b16a i got told by the licencing centres that if u exceed 300cc gain from the original engine displacement you gotta get engineering certificates.someone here could hopefully confirm that...?
nice build man=D good luck with it all.
Yeah I know it wont have the harness for the pump... but Should come with the engine loom which is what I thought you ment by the efi harness.
the engine loom is only a small part of what you need for the EFI conversion. Still need the loom that goes to the ECU, underdash fuse panel and then of course to the fuel pump.
unless you are an auto sparky or know someone who is that will work for free, trying to convert a carby harness to EFI will be a massive, massive task
