So when you guys say K20, do you mean just the head or the whole engine?

Im still using stock K24A3 oil pump . Stock block . Buddyclub N+ cams , Buddyclub dual valve springs , Buddyclub titanium retainers , 50 degree VTC.
Had the motor since 2007 and still using the same motor till today.
I'm guessing your running a kpro ?

not even the actual head itself - just the rotating mechanical mass.
K24 and K20 oem cast heads are the same, its only the hardware inside which is different.
EG5's setup is bang on what any K24 build should be,

hmm so you mean camshaft, valve springs etc...? When replacing these, would an aftermarket computer be required or will the stock ECU adjust itself?
-
The K24 has a bigger deck height than the K20... not sure if that comes from a thicker head gasket or if the actual head is different.
The stock K24a3s will go to 7600rpm reliably with the stock valvetrain - as Chris F has proven. Beyond that and you'll get valve float. It's hard to say where the stock cams will stop making more power... but with an RBB it's around 6800rpm and with an RBC/RSP you could assume it'd be more around 7200-7400rpm.

Not too sure if the OEM computer is that flexible to be honest.
ECU should be the number 1 thing to change - everything else is borderline on pointless without it

Shit guys sorry to bump such an old thread...
But alot of good info in here

ECU should be first mod for tuning K24A3 !!! And don't waste time on swaping K20 head on K24A3 block, you won't gain more then stock head + Intake camshaft from TSX 06-08 + VTC 50 deg. gear. With OEM oil pump safe rev limit is 7600 rpm, valvetrain can handle more as camshafts lifts isn't high, limit is oil pump with it's oil cavitation after ~ 7800 rpm. For more rpm's better to change oil pump to K20 (need some moding and oil pan) or plug and play ERL's S2000.

Yup
No need to rev k24a above 8000rpm
Enough low end torque
If going above 8000rpm, good idea to swap k24 oil pump for the k20 pump + valve train

did you ever use this setup, what did you get atw?

But you can get them to rev high IF you have the $$$ and its alot of $$ too
K24 is basically a stroked K20
Rotating mass of a K24 at 7000rpm is the equivalent of a K20 @ 8500rpm with respect to the stroke
Best things to do to a K24 IMO is K20R Intake cam + IM, Header/Exh, Pulleys/Flywheel and the much needed K-pro Dual if a post 2007 euro

bear in mind you will need Programmable ECU to run it properly too.
K24 is a very capable engine providing you choose your parts carefully.
seems like its now updated with:

considering that it's just oem cam upgrade, more aggresive cam would probably need to be clayed.
