    b18c7 sluggish and tacho out

    hey guys,

got a problem thats driving me crazy, 2months or so ago i changed my entire distributor on my dc2r with a brand new item and my o2 sensor.
(i changed the dizzy coz it was finished, my car was misfiring ect)

then with the new dizzy i went to heathcote drags, got a shocking 1.8secs slower 1/4mile.. car feels overall shit and laggy. no real pull.

my rpm tacho jumps all over the place as well. the car hits the limiter at like not even 7500rpm. sometimes it just randomly jumps at like 3000-35000rpm. (car idles perfect)

i went to a mechanic and he advanced the timing on the dizzy, the car was back to its old self, running like a champ and revd hard all the way too 9k. then on the way back from there the tacho started playing up again. when the tacho plays around the car is slower.

what could be the problem? ICM in the new dizzy is a nugget from factory?

fuel economy is good, starts fine, engine compression is-
    cyl 1 - 256
    cyl 2 - 246
    cyl 3 - 249
    cyl 4 - 240psi

oh and when changing gears from 1st to 2nd the revs drop to exactly 6,000rpm (previously around 7200rpm)
and from 2nd to 3rd the revs drop to 5500 ( previously 6500rpm)

My dc2 car kept reving from 500 rpm to 3000 rpm for no reason even at a stand still , my problem was that the throttle cable kept sticking ,i replaced mine today. Its so smooth i cant even tell my car is on idles at 900 perfectly.

From memory you unscrew the phillips screw and carefully slide the rotor button off.

You need to apply even pressure from at least 2 sides of the rotor. If you try to pry it on one side it just won't work. Try 2 screwdrivers...
It is amazing how such a small thing can be such a pain! By the way, please don't go and buy a new igniter until you have tried to tighten the 4 connectors, those things are expensive.
