For me it is purely my wallet talking.
    Coilovers will be my choice.

anyway....running static since i had the car, love it and yeah its a cheaper option than bags. but if your a nut head like me, youd slam the crap out of it so it becomes harder to drive to places with ramps/multi-level carparks and of course the speedbumps. It gets to a point where u want bags coz it means more functionality to the car again. Big price for the air kit and installation AND also for those like myself that half lost their boot to their audio setup. redesigning it all just means wayyyy more money to be forked out. If audio wasnt an issue for me, id def be switched over to bags by now.
LOL! As i was reading the first post i was like "hmmm wait thats a picture of my car?!?! drop on bags... hmm wonder whos car he's going to post on coilovers?? oooohhhh its a picture of my old car on coilovers.. lol"

    Hi there, its MR.R31N here.

I've enjoyed the best of both worlds, "Static" (Coilovers) and "Bags are for groceries" (Air Bags).
For me, I prefer Air Bags. Why?

Well first of all, if you like your cars LOW (and when i mean low, i mean less than 100mm off the ground) in my case LOW just doesnt cut it for me. When i first got my coilovers, i had a 2 finger gap all round. For some people thats low enough and yes, you could still get around to places, shopping malls, carparks, speed humps etc. A few months later, 2 finger gap looked abit high, so then i dropped it more, this time NO gap and thats when the problem starts.

Heres the problems with coilovers when you drop your car to its lowest setting.
You cant get into most shopping centre car parks, you would have to park somewhere on the street and walk.
You damage/scratch your exhaust, under body tray, front lip, side skirts, rear lip every single time you go over a speed hump.
You wont be able to go up your driveway and park your car in the garage, you would have to park on the street.
Everytime you go for a drive, you're always stressed because you're scared of hitting a pot hole and always on the look out for highway patrols.
You cant have too many passengers, otherwise your wheels will start rubbing. your passengers will be like "what was that noise?"
Everytime you drive pass a police car, 60-80% chance you get pulled over for a "Random Breath Test" (just an excuse to pull you over) then they will defect your car, either a minor defect or major defect.
After getting defected a few times, every time you go for a drive, you dont feel safe anymore, you feel like every new commy or FPV is an undercover highway patrol. every time you see a police car, your hearts beats 100x a second.
You would need to rotate your tires every 3 months, possibly needs replacing.
You would not trust your parents or your gf to drive your car.

The biggest problem i had was, with coilovers, it was never "low enough" for me, everytime i drop the car, a few months later, it feels like its not low enough, then i would drop it even more, the more i drop it, the more sacrifices you have to make and the higher chance i have to getting pulled over by a highway patrol and get defected.

Don't get me wrong, coilovers are great, its cheap and rides good. If you want to drive fast, take corners at high speed, track it and 2 finger gap is low enough for you. then by all means, go for coilovers. Highly recommend.

But, if you drive your car daily, follow the speed limit, take corners at normal speed, go to shopping malls, car parks, carry alot of passengers and when you get out of your car you want to see your car decked on the floor. Go for Air bags!

And how much are coilovers? between $1000 for used and $1600-$2000 for brand new.

How much are Air bags? well its hard to find any used ones. Brand new, between $2200-$4000.

I know alot of people don't want to spend to much on their cars and can't justify why anyone would pay $4000 for an Air Bag when they could buy coilovers which will do the same job for half the price.

Well let me tell you, its half the price but more the headaches.

If you drive fast and want to track your car don't get air bags. get coilovers.

"but if you get air bags.. your car will feel like a boat" NO! it will only feel like a boat if you raise your car really high and set bag pressure to high. Once you play around with the ride height and not set the pressure to high on the bags and you find that sweet spot. (in my case 2 finger gap and medium damper setting) it feels like riding on stock suspension.

    In conclusion... lol...

Get COILOVERS if you want to go for PERFORMANCE.
    Coilovers: $1500
    Intake: $450
    Exhaust: $1300
    Headers: $800
    ECU: $800
    Tuning and installs: $1000
    Total: $5850

Get AIR BAGS if you want to go for ASTHETIC.
    Air Bags: $2600
    Lip kit painted: $2000
    Exhaust tip: $100
    Install: $1000
    Total: $5700

    Hope that helps. =)

If you go for PERFORMANCE and ASTHETIC!.. you would need to sell one of your legs or arms. Im currently disabled and on a wheel chair, cause I spent too much on Asthetic.

lol, that was the interview with JDMST.

this time around, im earning more than i used to, so shes not complaining anymore. Now she wants to know what mods i plan to do on the car. shes like "as long as you still save some money for the house every time you get paid, you can do whatever you like with the car. just make sure the car is not too low, im sick of you getting in trouble with the cops."

    and im like

"how about we make a deal, let me buy Air Suspension, so when you drive it, the car is stock height and you get what you want, and i can drop the car when its parked and i get what i want.?!!"

    =)
