Either you guys with high km's and no problems are extremely lucky, or my car's had a seriously hard life!

I'm currently at 78k km on mine - 07 model. Aux belt & auto-tensioner were done at 72k. Brakes are warped (have been for ages). Stock shocks are shot and need replacement - the car's feeling very underdamped compared to every near-new vehicle that I've driven, and I've had a few interesting experiences where the lack of rebound damping has had me hanging on for dear life in situations where other cars have had no problems!

On the plus side though, the engine still pulls hard and the rest of the car feels as tight as a drum - no rattles (asides from the bloody sunroof rubbers which need lubricating every once in a while), and no real signs of wear anywhere else.

Did you have your car since new? Stock shocks tend To crap themselves if car was lowered on springs.

The brake rotors only meat to last 90 odd k, so 78-80 seems reasonable.

The belt might have stretched. But if the tensioner was not rattling, then there is no need to replace it (you'll see it bounce around if the tensioner is worn).

If yours is an auto, then it is not warped. The shitty OEM pads will leave deposits on the hot discs. Just give it a quick sand and replace the pads with any aftermarket ones.

Is your car lowered on springs? If not, then you might be cornering too quickly or you drive really quick over poor condition roads or speed bumps.

Tensioner was rattling and bouncing at idle at the time. The belt was actually fine, but figured for an extra $30, no point in just doing the tensioner!

Replaced with aftermarket pads already (RacingBrake ET300)! Have to say that whilst the situation did improve over OEM pads, some brake shudder still exists. At least it's now at a "bearable" level as opposed to the "I hate using the brakes" level.

Had the car since 62k. Not sure if the previous owner had done anything to it but it was bone stock when I picked it up. Never been lowered during the time I've had it.

I definitely don't corner too quickly , but like for like on same (poor condition Sydney) roads at the same speeds, my own car is underdamped as compared to say a new Jetta, Mazda6, or even the facelift CU2. There is a section of road that we use at work for suspension benchmarking - it consists of a big dip (i.e. downhill, immediately followed by an uphill section) that is taken at 90km/h. Most new cars we've taken through there will handle it with no excessive rebound, whilst my CL9 felt like it bounced a whole foot off the ground and was definitely an "oh $@^$!!" moment!

Not trying to stir sh*t here though - I still absolutely love the car and am happy to sink money into it to get it fixed, despite the fact that it would be slightly cheaper and less problematic for me to sell up and lease a company car instead!

Definitely - new springs and shocks is the next thing on the cards for me!

Not going to go with coilovers though as I personally believe that it's just not appropriate for a daily driver, and I'm not after a huge drop either - something like Tein H-tech (1" front, 0.7" rear) would be perfect for me. Am weighing up between Konis or Bilsteins at the moment - Koni's have the mounting collar for the HID levellers and are rebound adjustable, but the Bilsteins are monotube, generally perceived to be better, and I may be able to get a good price on them through work.

Got that pesky 80k service to pay for first though!

Thought the H&R OE Sport was .75" front and .5" rear? For that sort of drop I'd just throw a set of Koni yellows on the lowest perch and be done with it!

Was originally looking at spending less than $1200 shocks and springs only, but willing to stretch the budget for Bilsteins if I can get a good price. Labour and camber kit extra of course, though having looked at the technical documentation for Acura's CL9 A-spec kit (similar drop in rear), I may be able to get away with no camber kit for such a mild drop.
