might aswell do the rack boot before the alignment because u will need a alignemnt after u change it since the tie rod has to come off.

Repco sell a strechable boot that only requires the joint to come out, you don't need to seperate the inner and outer rods apparently because it comes with a cover you attach to the tie rod end so you can slide the boot over it
