squeekey front brakes
Hi all my girlfriends 97 RD1 CRV brakes are squeeky realy loud.
only at the end of breaking pretty much when your about to come to a stop.
I went and bought brand new break pads took the old ones out only to find that the old ones weren't worn down at all compared to the new pads.
so does anyone know what it could be?
im thinking it could be the discs.

Something caught in between pad/rotor? Clean all with a break-cleaning product or degreaser etc.

I wouldn't use degreaser because some of them may leave a slippery film on everything (not what you want on brakes). Always use a spray that states it's a brake/clutch cleaner. Use in a well ventilated area and avoid breathing in the fumes and skin contact.

The disc may need to be deglazed.

Either the compound of the pads you are using are fairly average or the disc is warped & requires machining or replacement.
Also check to make sure your caliper pistons & slide's are not seized & that the slides are lubricated correctly

If the discs were warped you'd feel it under heavy pedal use, but it won't cause squeeking.
Cheap pads will glaze easier and you're doomed to annoying noises.
If the Pistons were siezed, the brakes wouldn't work at all.
Siezed slides can be checked easily.. Make sure the pads (inner and outer) are waring around the same amount.. If not, check/regrease the slides (This isn't the cause of your problems, it's just good maintainence since you'll be pulling it apart anyways)

Brake late, brake hard (Obviously within reason, we don't want warpage!) and your brakes will be brilliant day in day out.

we only just bought the car so im pretty much tidying up all the previous owners shit, im hopeing its happenin because of cheap quality pads, but well see.

But why does the squeak happen? The metal rotor that the brake pads squeeze together can sometimes vibrate, causing a squeaking noise. Luckily, there are several ways to fix this:
•Use a milk spray, lotion or cream on the back of the pads [source: Allen].
•Use sandpaper to sand off surface hardening of the brake pad/shoe surface.
•Try a different brand of brake pad!

or you can try shave your disc. cost 10 bucks a disc at meekong. but check if your rotor can be legally shaved or else get new ones. and make sure you grease the back of your brake pads. use high temp grease.
or you can just crank your music up... problem solved lol

Just because a caliper piston is seized, does not mean that the brakes will not work at all. I have come across quite a number of cars (especially EVO's with brembo's that have been tracked) where a single piston is seized and causes mad squeals. Same with warped rotors. Yes they can be warped, but will not always give shudder.

pretty sure there no seized as braking is perfectly fine just noisey, pretty sure there not warped as they dont wabble or brake harder on one side.
this sunday ill pull it apart n check it out, give it a clean with brake cleaner and ill try sanding the pads a bit, if the discs need machining ill take it to a wheel shop n let em do it.
