Just a tip, never allow them to put "ASAP" on the delivery date which is essentially equals infinity. I learnt this the hard way.

Can you kindly point me to that law please (any web link)? I want to read up to know what consumer rights I have. Many thanks!

When I asked at what point does it become a reasonable request to cancel an order he said there was no date so I would have to wait. So when I asked if that meant I could be kept waiting for another 6 months and then I would be expected to accept that delay, the answer I was given was a "yes". That didn't exactly seem fair. Any lo and behold, under Australian law if no date is specified you are allowed to cancel without penalty you can cancel 3 months after the date the contract is signed. He neglected to mention that little nugget of information.

    Try these links :

I think the second link in particular offers some scope to put pressure on Honda to sort out the missing central locking button the Vibe S models that have come in recently.

You sound uncannily like my dealer.

The point is not whether the item is important or not. It is about principle. It is about slithering away from the responsibility of having an item that is advertised to be there when it is actually not.

Would you not feel the same way if someone returned a Vibe-S to you without the rear spoilers?

as i said its one switch. not even an important one and u can still do the same thing with the button next to the door handle.... its the end of the word....

take it up with honda, thats the best bet. a spoiler is alot different to a 'switch' even when there is a switch on the door that does the same thing.
im not biased, i just tell it how it is.

I got a call from Honda Australia, no less. I was told that my then end of April (from end March) delivery date is going to be pushed back to end of May due to severe weather conditions off Japan causing shipping delays - and that they will be putting something in the car boot to make up for lost time (boot divider?)

I told them that the loan I got for the car was expiring before then and getting a new loan would mean getting it at a new higher interest rate. The Honda AU rep then told me they can arrange that my first year of service would be free - that is up to 20K kilometers.

I asked if the Honda AU rep could instead do something about cancelling my order but said there is not much Honda Au can do with contracts made by dealers but the rep will communicate with my dealer, which I take with a grain of salt, to check what other options there are. I guess it is easier for the Honda Au to point a finger to the dealer in the same way it makes the life of the dealer easier by pointing a finger to Honda Au.

Regardless, as a possible repeat Honda customer, I am still looking to cancel. I am tired of Honda expecting me to deliver per contract when they cannot honor it themselves.

End of May, get f^%cked. I will still get the car as it is still the best for my usage with options I actually use but not happy if this is true. I was told when I bought early April and that was confirmed no less than 4 times over the next 6 weeks by my dealer. Last call from the dealer was some time in April "there are still 20 days left, haha" was his exact quote.
I have a finance guy coming to my house to arrange my finance Thursday and don't want to muck him around.
I know it's not the dealers fault but it's just damn frustrating.
On a plus side the road works that have going on for the past year near our house may be nearly done by then so hopefully no new tar splats on the new car.

Took a Jazz VIBE for a test drive today. They only had the auto available for the test drive. Was interested in a VIBE manual, storm silver, 1.3 with carpet mats. Price quoted was $18550 and delivery expected 'sometime in late May'.

Wanted to trade my immaculate 2004 VTIS manual Jazz. The most they would give me was $3k trade. Went to another dealer and they most I could get them up to was $4500 trade value. Needless to say I walked and considering selling the car privately to buy a Jazz VIBE. Redbook value for my car as a trade was 6k to 7800$. Of course they talked down redbook saying how inaccurate their pricing is...

Being the dealer it is your job to talk to Honda Au about it. Then Honda can make the appropriate action. It could then make it known to everyone who ordered a Vibe/Vibe-S who expected that button to be there that unfortunately that is not the case. If Honda Au is nice enough, maybe they could throw in something (possibly close to the value of the missing item) - or they could also do nothing so I can then sharpen my pitch forks some more and buy more kerosene for my fire torch.

You being the dealer are not supposed to tell me to 'go take it up with Honda Au' - and this is where you have it all wrong. You are selling me the car. Your dealer website showroom has the item in the gallery. You are Honda's face to me as a customer. You are supposed to liaise between me and Honda Au in case a problem arises.

That is the reason why when I go to honda.com.au and want to buy a car, it asks me where I am at, and suggest the dealer nearest my choice. And it will not let me buy it directly from Honda Au even if I want to.

Is that at all so hard?
