you have to destroy them to get them off - try using some pincers to pinch the side then twist , this should break the band with little issue. Just take sure not to damage the rubber boots. GL

I started to hear the clanking sound that i heard from the original right front spring perch being loose but this time on the passenger side so decided to jack the car and take the passenger wheel off and saw that the bottom and top perch were loose and the coilover was getting raised as I drove. Pretty dangerous as the coilover could've come out of the socket. Just tightened it. Very strange how it can loosen so easily. I'm hoping it was just not tightened properly but will make sure I routinely check them now

yeah - its a common issue with cars with your front strut design....

I remember redoing a suspension install on a EVO 9 probably 3-4 times - the guy came back to get retightened. We ended up using a splash of loctite and it prevented any excess movement. Note that its important to have large washers / spacers inbetween the spring and the lower perch and or upper hat - this allows the spring to rotate freely and avoid your situation.

I've had the clanking sound too. ill notice it when doing 3 pointers etc. nothing wrong with the coil over though

Do you put loctite on the thread and then lock in the locking spring perch. Is it easy to undo the locking perch if you use loctite.?
Did u use loctite blue? I'm thinking of doing this tomorrow

I use "permatex threadlocker blue" - medium strength. Great for anti-vibration locking (IE reusing lock nuts etc).
I smeared it on the thread which covers both the locking perch and spring perch.

Even though the ep hasn't been driven in nearly a month, its still getting presents.
Woke up this morning, first thing I did was buy hardrace rear camber arms and lower control arms. Less than $300 for both including postage
