 its not like my budget has always been at 10k, the intital plan was to save 15 then go looking around but i saw a few cars that seemed possible to negotiate to what i had. still a student so saving money takes a bit longer than working that full time job. what i meant was been waiting patiently for a while to own one but not actually going out to look at them etc.

							Go for the one you like mate both are really great cars. Its your personal taste.

I have a DC2r and my mate has a DC5r
DC2r = Old RAW which made me love the car more than the DC5r. Great Chassis, excellent handling.
DC5r = Modern, power.
DC2r + Kswap = Win

But like people said I wouldn't touch a car that has been written off.
Just make sure you do a rev/ppsr check and take it to a Mechanic.

If you are in Syd take it to TOPONE, they did an inspection which they looked over the car with a fine comb. took them over 1 1/2 hrs.
You'll know straight away if a seller is genuine and got nothing to hide they will have no probs taking the car to get inspected.

 Hi Issac, nice meeting you at Wakefield. I just used a pressure washer gurney on my RPF1's and it came out pretty good. I'm the guy with the BBC

							Dc5r sounds good, a slight hit to the rear wont affect anything now if its been repaired properly, if it only damaged the rear bar/reo its nothing, aslong chassis is straight it should be alrite, nothing wrong with buying a car thats been a repairable write off before if it can pass a rwc now it sounds like a good buy, and by the sounds of it he seems like a honist seller too to even tell u he bought it from the auctions as a repairable writeoff

							Resale is a killer if it's a RWO. I get the impression you are youngish - you are going to want to ditch that car sooner or later. no car holds its value until it's at the lower end of the market, RWOs even less. Pay 12 for it now, 2 years down the track you will be very lucky to sell it for 6 (more kms on it + RWO + wear and tear). How long has the seller been trying to sell it?

Save your money and don't cut corners looking for a cheap ride. I'd also be keeping an eye out on EP3 Civics. I found the ones I test drove to be mostly superior to the DC5s and EP3s are not selling for the 20-22K that people are asking for them, some are dropping to 16K as they are a niche car that is not even in demand amongst Honda circles. Great car, lots of fun and the fasts of a 5R.

DC2R only if it's what you want. I went down that path because I'd narrowed down to S15/EP3/DC2R and the S15s were flogged out/riced badly for the prices, the EP3s were too much (then) and poorly looked after (the ones I looked at) and I got a very low km 2R that popped up at the right time when I had the right money. It's a drivers car and fun but I also have a daily plus the wife's car for when the suspension jars my back once too often

Currently I'm saving for a S15 to go into the stable next to the others - ideally one that I can take the SR20 out of and put a real motor into.
